I heard sirens going mental not so long ago. Bonnebouche has been boarded up for at least a year now though - doubt it'd be insurance, might just be carnival arson.

I was at work and everyone was coming in asking if I'd seen the fire. No chance of that I was too busy.

Taken from Hpool Mail site:

"THIS is the moment when a former food factory went up in flames.
Smoke engulfed Hartlepool as smoke poured from the disused Bonne Bouche, the former Mr Chris Factory, on the Oaksway Industrial Estate, in the town.

Eight appliances and two emergency tenders were sent from fire stations at Stranton, the Headland, Middlesbrough, Stockton, Thornaby, Billingham and the Marine station, near the Transporter Bridge, at 4.16pm when the building was said to be "well alight."

Ambulance crews from Hartlepool were also called to the site.

A spokesman for the fire brigade confirmed that the building was derelict at the time of the fire and that the building was "well alight."

A spokesman for the Ambulance Service confirmed that one crew from Hartlepool had attended and that they were notified by the fire service.

Eye witness Michael Rowledge, 23, a baker, from Windermere Road, Hartlepool, said: "I worked at Bonne Bouche for a couple of weeks about a year ago on the production line. We live completely on the other side of town and saw the smoke from over there. It's unbelievable.

His sister Emma Rowledge, 19, who lives in Dalkeith Road, added: "It's shocking because it's always been here. I've never seen this many emergency people. We can only hope nobody was in it.""

LOL, "well alight". You can just imagine such a techinical term getting used. "It was well alight like, ya knaa"

Easily the funniest Mail Quote for a while.

"Always been here" really love!?

It's hardly the fooking pyramids or the Houses of Parliament is it and even they haven't ALWAYS been here rolfl

It's also fantastic that the 'eye witnesses' where on the other side of town miles away
