I was in the pub yesterday to eat then to watch the Barnsley Cardiff game.

The pre-match entertainment was a game between two teams called Middle something and Manew knighted or summat. It was rather a tasty game. Definitely not BORing.
Any chance of us borrowing Alves from Middle whatsit?

Gareth Southgate should have worn a thicker jacket.

He'll catch his death of cold in that snow.

He doesn't need one, his nose is effective in keeping off the elements.

the general feeling from a personal perspective was one of sheer terror when we ambushed by boro fans on leaving the rink end on the millhouse side of the ground.

i took a kung fu style kick to the hip from a doctor marten and avoided further blows by legging it across the wasteland where the skateboard park now lies and round the back of the odeon.

there were a couple of pools kids went to ground and looked to be getting a severe kicking, and there was trouble for a good 20 minutes after our game finished.

this wasnt the current day casual on casual carry on, it was the olden day hooligansism where anyone and everyone was fair game.

remarkably this is completely overlooked in modern day comment on the day.

On top of that we had just been playing Cardiff, which didn't help. The powers that were didn't allow enough time between the games, another contributing factor. Have M'Bro ever made any attempt to show their thanks?

If I recall, there had been trouble inside (Mill House Stand?) during the Pools/Cardiff game.

There most definitely was.

I was about 11 or 12 at the time and was there with the old man and my brother. We were sat right in the middle of where it all kicked off so the old man sent me and our kid down the Town End end of the stand out of the way eventually coming along to find us about 5 minutes later with a big grin on his face seemingly pleased with whatever he'd been up to.

I thought the chew was at the Town end of the Mill house. I was stood on the Mill House terrace At the Town End. Some Cardiff fans in the Mill House seats were hoying all sorts at us, including seats they had ripped up. My mate Peter hit one Cardiff fan and I thought he'd killed him. The bloke was lifeless for ages.

You might be right, I think that we were sort of Town End side of centre and they were a few rows in front of us a bit to our right.

With hindsight I think that my brother and I were sent towards the middle cos I seem to recall now us ending up near the press box at the back of the stand.

It was a long time ago. :uhoh:
