I'm not a fan neither and none of the songs listed stand out as well known so they can hardly be classed as one of the best songwriters for me.

On a related subject, I've been looking at some old Move clips and they all show close ups of Carl Wayne singing when the only voice you can hear is Roy Wood's.
Hilarious.
Wayne looks like he is miming.

On this one they don't even show you Roy Wood's face, but you can certainly hear him!

Went to see what's left of E.L.O. the other night.

Completely brilliant gig, why is it that they are treated as one of these "Guilty Pleasures" act that it's "Uncool" to like?

These blokes wrote the soundtrack to the 70's and a big chunk of the 80's.

Set List

Twilight
All Over The World
Confusion
Diary Of Horace Wimp
Sweet Talking Woman
Hold On Tight
Rock And Roll Is King
Evil Woman
Turn To Stone

Shine A Little Love
Fire On High
Livin' Thing
Wild West Hero
Concerto For A Rainy Day
Mr Blue Sky
Telephone Line

Showdown
Ma-Ma-Ma-Belle
Do Ya?

Don't Bring Me Down.

The Lead Vocalist was Carl Wayne, who sounds incredibly like Woody.

They have five good vocalists in that band!

Fair call Mr Glasses but if you look at the clip that caused my comment you have to agree it is unarguably Mr Wizzard whose vocals dominate.

By the time they got to Fire Brigade Wayney was reduced to oohs and aahs, and on their last song, California Man, he is gone altogether!

Spot on

"As Wood not only wrote all the original material, but was also handling more of the lead vocals, Wayne felt sidelined and left shortly after the Top 20 hit "Curly" in 1969."

Just listened to it and Wayne sings the verse with Wood singing the chorus. Like you say, there is a certain similarity in their voices but Wayne's is missing that raspiness that Woody manages.

The Move were SERIOUSLY good, my Ma & Da must have liked them 'cos I have more Move 45's than almost every other 60's band barring The Beatles.

I loved The Move. Blackberry Way is one of my all time favourite songs.
