I saw Alex Campbell there. I always remember the room upstairs being packed and some poor bugger getting up to go to the toilet with AC asking where he thought he was going. There then followed a five minute harangue on how to tie a knot in a willy.

Alex was another victim of the demon drink in the end.

The Buffs club in Church Street, I used to like getting pissed in there during the week.

How about the Cellar Bar, that was canny too, as was The Grange before they turned it into a "modern bar".

The Lion was always canny for a pint before the match too.

Is that the Captain Cutless of the Teddy Boy era. Honest I was only a nipper. Apparently he got on the train to London to give them a sorting out down there but when they got there the police put them straight back on the train to Hartlepool. Or West Hartlepoolas it would've been then

Not to mention Oscar Coxon in the Causeway.

Me mother still refers to them both as Oscar Bloody Coxon and Alfie Bloody Smithson. Nothing to do with them like, it was just that me father used to spend a lot of time in their company.

Speaking of 'Foxys' what about The Carlton.

Wasn't there a club called the double deckers in the sixties/early seventies?

I've not spotted The Marine in Seaton yet. Spent a lot of time in there with Kitty the barmaid who's husband was an ex boxer and a bit punchy and she didn't put her teeth in. It was that classy.

It was there that I discovered the magic of Johny Pino's......pineapple wine for gods sake. Camerons contribution to the chemical industry. It was Kitty who named Johny Pino's as 'Knicker Droppers'.

Do they still make them.
