I've got black friends. I've also got an Asian partner. Nevertheless I stand by what I said earlier. I'm not saying that all black people are murderous, drug pushing scumbags, I'm just saying that in my experience a greater percentage are. This is why more black youths are arrested, its now't to do with racist coppers its just that a disproportionate number are doing something dodgy.

I think that's a natural product of living in a country not of origin. You develop a siege mentality - look at Benidorm, Faliraki and the other god-awful places we've colonised with tourism and homes in the sun. I still think that in some areas you'll never stand a chance. There's plenty of places in Ireland, Scotland and Wales that are rough as fook but as they share the same skin colour as us it's not as openly identifiable.

Nobody knows what is wrong with Africa or at least how to put right what is wrong.

The arguments about post colonialism amounts to 'if you want to get there I wouldn't start from here'.

How come India is forging ahead with a vigourous economy and it isn't happening in Africa.

Indians place a lot of value on the family unit, they stick together and their society respects the family, and they are more likely to work together in most things they do.
The culture of Africa seems different, they seem to be more disparate, it seems there is a lot of one upmanship going on and individuals trying to get everything for themselves (eg people like Mugabe) rather than helping their society as a whole. There has certainly been a hell of a lot of dictators in that continent over the years.

that last comment probably is unfair on the African tribes who have been displaced by war etc, but unfortunately there seems to be a pre-disposition to join in with war and atrocities in Africa.
I would feel perfectly safe travelling around 90% of India, but I couldn't say the same about Africa!!!!
