Watched it for the first time this morning and it needs to be slowed down. It looked, on first glance, that Clark might have took the man then the ball. I need a slow-mo!

As I've been telling some leek munching sheep noncer on rivals (who wasn't even at the game) the camera angle is the wrong one to reveal how appalling the decision was.

I wish we had a camera in the middle of the Cyril Knowles, the guy wouldn't ref a game for a while if we did.

My thoughts.

It looked a horrendous decision from my angle to the right of the Town End. I hope Pools World don't use the same footage.

Same here, I was sat in the middle of the Millhouse and though it was a A1 tackle, the language that came forth from me after that would of caused a Para to blush, my seven year old nephew learned a whole new vocabulary yesterday afternoon

I've haven't seen it on TV and I don't feel as if I have to. I was looking at the incident straight on to were Clark was facing for me clearly won the ball with an excellent tackle, the players reaction also suggested it was an excellent tackle. Whether he caught Scotland or not is irrelevant football is a contact sport and he won the ball.

Are you not allowed to tackle any more sctatchinghead

Why didn't he book him?

The view From the terrace of the Millhouse away end corner the ball never went out of play and in my opinion it was a penna.

You can't prove whether it's a penalty or not from a still photograph sctatchinghead

I don't understand......

What has the ball going 'out of play' have to do with it??

Surely the 'view' that counts is the refs, if from his angle it looks like a penalty ...it is, even if it isn't, if you follow my logic.

I think that's the key the only people who thought it was a pen were those who had a similar angle of the incident as the ref, those who could actually see Clark win the ball however...............

Of course he did, and no selection of photo's is going to convince me he didn't. You were obviously at as bad an angle as the TV. From the side facing the tackle he clearly won the ball, I'll say again I don't have to see it again.

I am in concurance Mr PJ, I was walking along the Millhouse terrace and was more or less dead in line with the tackle and at no point did I think penalty

The fact no Swansea players or fans appealed, says it all.

Unlike Frank to try and make out he is God again and always has views that are 100% right.

Sadly it's a referee thing, a LOT of them at ALL levels seem to think they are bigger then game

How often do you come away from the game without mentioning the ref?

A good ref should be almost invisible, not centre stage

I was right behind this tackle, albeit 120 yards away in the town end and I can safely say that it was the best tackle of the first half. It was one of the worst penalty decisions I have ever seen. Does anyone know if it was the same ref who was in charge for Stockport v Hartlepool las tseason??

From the Town End I thought no pen, but after watching this http://www.football.virginmedia.com/pag ... 62,00.html I think the decision was correct. Clark took Scotlands leg.

I'm not convinced with that evidence. I wasn't convinced at the time. However the referee was and that is all that counts. There is no doubt it changed the complex of the game, but referees decisions usually do. On Saturday Birmingham City were reduced to ten men whilst leading 2-1. The ref gave them a penna. It was never a penna from the TV angle but the ref saw it from another angle and gave it. I've now seen Sven livid for the first time. It's part of football and it is decisions like that which helped to coin the phrase 'they'll be talking about that in the pubs and clubs' etc. Nowadays we have all the benefits of modern technology, especially on sky, but the referee has a split second to decide. At the time I was livid but I keep telling myself that I should be used to it by now.I'm glad that decision really has very little impact on our season. If it had relegated us then....................

I've just watched the highlights on NTL but for me there's 2 other factors re. the penalty....

1. Why didn't Barratt come out get the ball???? sctatchinghead

2. The ball definetly looked out of play and should have been a Goal-Kick!!!!

The decision its self....I was 100% sure on Saturday that it wasn't apenalty and now after watching it again and again....I'm only 99% sure it wasn't!!!! confised
Clark definetly touched the ball before the player and Football is....well it's supposed to be....a contact sport!!!! confised

BTW....Their 1st goal....how fecking hard did he hit that????
We should have said before the game started....'No Blammers'!!!!

we should have played with a Freddy Floater, when he first hit it the ball would be travelling at 160mph, but would have slowed down to 10 mph after 15 yards.
It would also seem to have hit an invisible wall and turned 90 degrees in mid-air.

I don't care what any of you lot think, especially those of you who are so very very wrong about this.

We'd walked along from our normal spot and were stood at the top of the steps on the Millhouse terrace by the Rink End.

The whole ball didn't go out of play.

Ben Clark played the ball and then his follow through took the very un-Scottish looking Scotland out.

Anybody who thinks that a tackle like that warrants a penalty should quit watching footie and take to basketball or netball instead.

If there had been a telly camera where we were stood it would be indisputable.

The ref was looking from a very similar angle to us.

Speaking to Jeff Winter at the end of the game (in the same spot) he reckoned never a penalty but stopped short of agreeing with me (with a look that to me indicated that he thinks this kind of thing goes on) that Swansea are paying refs and linesmen in used notes.
