"It was a titanic effort from the boys and a fantastic performance. The referee made a horrendous decision for the penalty that cost us the game."

Can't say fairer than that

I think Tree gave a better and fairer appraisal of the game.

Agree about the fringe players comment. Maybe Uncle Ken needs to give Wilson money to improve that situation?

there is a school of thought that subscribes to the theory that sir ken no longer trusts danny wilson with money after the duffers he bought last summer.

from todays pools performers i would say perhaps half a dozen are surplus to requirements.

yes the penalty decision was a shocker but it wouldnt have got to that if the keeper had come and collected the ball instead of being glued to his line.

i also thought he was at fault for their 3rd goal. i dont rate either him or budz. they can both go for me.

mcunnie simply isnt good enough to play centre mid, and it doesnt look as though boland has got the legs to play there week in and week out, so a central midfielder is another priority.

matty had another one of those games where i cant quite make my mind up about him. some good things, some dumb things.

foley isnt going to make it is he ? i like the lad, and he will probably do a job for someone in the 4th division, but it isnt happening for him at pools.

im starting to wonder if thats the case with mckay as well. he does look like a headless chicken at times.

nelsons distribution was gash again and you can see why he was dropped the other week.

on the plus side ben clark had a great game. how in the name of god he was out of the side at the start of the season is a mystery. a miscarriage of justice if ever there was one.

james brown caused the league leaders all sorts of problems, as did monkhouse.

the three of them were probably pools best players.

we werent as good as wilson thinks we were, but we werent as bad as tree is making out.

we did okay, we looked what we are. a mid table side with some potential.

Agree with all that, you know your stuff. But I still think it's funny Darlow lost again. thrilled

He can't, ....he's got O'Barmy Tourettes Syndrome, the 'sufferers', in this case 'us', have to endure endless posts on ;

1. Wilson is a genius.

2. Aren't Pools brill.

3. Isn't life wonderful.

4 I hate darlo.

4. ..and not forgetting his very own theory that even if we lose 56-0, it's OK if darlo lose as it makes it better.

Mackay only looks the part when he's got the ball at his feet and through on goal - his link-up play is poor at the minute and if he's going to make it in the pro game he has a massive amount of improvement to make yet. His decision to attempt an overhead kick instead of chesting it down and trying to draw a challenge from the defender, or laying it off to Porter was amateurish to say the least.
Porter was taking up great positions in the box but it just wouldn't come for him, and he could easily have had a couple of tap-ins on another day if the ball hadn't been quite out of reach like yesterday. He worked really hard and won us plenty of free kicks, especially when he found himself three against one on more than one occasion.
Foley is rubbish, we should stop wasting time on him and put in some of the youngsters who haven't had a chance. I've heard it said that some of the young players aren't yet ready, but if Foley is ready then so am I.
Brown was always a threat, and the late challenge on him was a deliberate attempt to put him out of the game, another thing the ref didn't spot.
Monkhouse was quality again, and he showed how annoyed he was at the end of the game when things weren't going right for the team - we simply have to keep a player of his class.
Ben Clark is the best centre back at the club - period. How Nelson can play before Clark is a disgrace. Never should Ben be dropped from this team for inferior footballers again. Antwi and Nelson instead of Clark for a lot of this season = one sick joke. Piss poor management if ever I saw it.
Mc Cunnie should have been switched to right back where he seems most comfortable, and Sweeney put in the centre where he should have been, because Sweeney is always a goal threat and McCunnie will never be able to do what Sweeney does. Another black mark to Wilson for removing a potential source of goals from our team - what goes through his head sometimes?
Robson is another one who has had his chance and can't hold down a shirt, however one or two of those offsides in the first half involving him were typically odious decisions being made by the linesman all day against Pools.
We desperately need a decent keeper, neither of the two at the club inspire us with confidence, they barely make a competent keeper between them.
Humphreys is not a left back, but he'll have to stay there because quite simply there's nobody else.
Nelson should be dropped, and Clark and Collins would be my centre back pairing of choice (injuries permitting). Fair play to Wilson here, he did select this pairing against Yeovil before Collins' unfortunate injury. Nelson is unable to pass a ball to save his life, Clark gives us so much more ability in there.
We are not far away from being a solid top half team, but the fringe players can't be relied on and as a result the better players can't play their normal game, and we are far less effective.
