Tommy Butler was a really good player - he was just in a team that had a shite sttitude and laying under a manager who was way out of his depth.....

Not often I agree with you Jonny, but I agree with you. Tommy Butler was and is a very good and skilful player.

sctatchinghead sctatchinghead Never really understood that criticism of Tommy Butler. I think that was more down to the way the team was playing (dragged down by Barry Chuckle). Good player. End of.

Jon Daly and Chris Llewellyn were of course busting a gut to make themselves available to get on the end of any crosses. Thomas was just in a shite team, he has played for better teams than that one all of his career......

That's right. That's why he is about to step up into the Championship. All I saw in Butler when he was at Pools was a quality player playing on a badly-managed side. In fact, Thomas was so bad, the league leaders snapped him up. FFS.

Butler was one of the most skillful and creative players we ever had. People moaned that he was shit etc and couldnt pass/cross. Quite simply he was at least one step ahead of everyone else in that side and they were never where they should be position wise.

Brilliant player.

In the relegation season Butler contributed one league goal, for a player of his ability that's absolutely rubbish.

Obviously a good player but was as guilty as others in that season for under performance. Comments about end product are totally spot on the facts speak for themselves.

PJ - he battled on his own for half of that season with very little help from his team mates when most players were hiding. Most teams knew he was out only threat so they put 2 players on him and kicked lumps out of him. Boyd and Porter were injured and he was surrounded by players who were not good enough or not interested.

He contributed far more in our relegation season than many.....

I rate Tommy Butler as one of the best players at Pools in the last three or four years. Granted, he didn't score any, but his distribution was immense. We missed him after he went off in the Playoff Final either way.

Brilliant .......... when he felt like it, .... some people seem to forget he had a habit of 'losing interest' during matches.

Pretty irrelevant if you ask me, he's only scored six this season in a team that have been top of the league for the last six months. He's never been a goalscorer and never will be.

He's a provider not a goalscorer. Swansea are running away with the league and he's on track to be their player of the year. Difficult to do for a player who is rubbish.

the accusation is also very tiresome and has been proved a million times it's no true. The next person to suggests it gets five minutes in the Vic away showers at 5 o'clock Saturday with the oppositions star winger.

I always thought he was under-rated and said that before on here. If we'd had a fit Joel and Boydy that season I am sure we'd have seen a very different Tommy Butler but c'est la vie.

Butler was playing in a shite team and was by far the most creative and consistant player we had for most of the season, that said he'd do the same thing over and over and cut inside before routinely giving the ball away. I dread to thing what we'd of been like without him at the time, he was the only reason worth watching pools at times that season!

It makes a change from our lass being accused of being other people , including a bloke.
Funny though Mr I you didn't come to her aid. In fact you seemed to back the accusation.
Never mind though she's still alive and well without your support. These accusations seem to emanate from a select group. Perhaps you should ask these 'cyber' detectives to back up their claims or withdraw them unreservedly. After all it is fellow Poolies who are the victims here.
That is all.
AND YOU ARE NOT GETTING A TESTIMONIAL.

You actually took part in it. Mutley accused her of being the infamous Superwatty and you said you were surprised he was the only one who could see it. It's gone now and best forgotten. Mr Ripper will remember the 38 DDs.

I just looked back myself. At the time I believed her to be superwatty and no amount of IP viewing would prove that one way or t'other. She appeared from nowhere to defend the bloke on the Mrs Kev 'our rass' gate thread.

At the time it was a reasonable suspicion, if that it not the case, and I accept your word on it, then I apologise.

Anybody can make a mistake and I'm sure she will accept your apology. It did hurt her at the time that someone could suggest she was a bloke and that she was indeed an old bloke ( something which is dodgy ground with females). Maybe you should tell people to put up or shut up when these accusations appear. That incident prompted me to come on the board to defend her ( see my first post) , so at least some good has come out of it.

Well, if the subject HAS to be brought up again......I see no reason to apologise. In my view Mr and Mrs Tickhill started (perhaps innocently) a totally unnecessary and in some ways unpleasant exchange.

As Mr I says, there did seem to be some explanantion required as to how the whole thing started. Superwatty was being gratuitously insulting to MadJohn and others who were trying to calm troubled waters. Nelsons Head then appeared form nowhere, to support Superwatty. Among others of us, Mr I wondered why she was doing this, a question he had every right to ask. It is his board after all.

We are only guests :sweeeet:

I disagree dear. To cast blame on starting anything is unfair to Mr & Mrs T. It was more a spillover from a Rivals spat which some people unwittingly got caught up in.

No one has mentioned you Grabec..........it must be guilty conscience that has attracted you to this discussion. I never started anything. The spat was started by you against Nelsonshead long before I came on to the board. I only came on because my wife was being accused of being somebody she isn't. You think you can just randomly question a person's credibility and then twist it when that person retaliates do you? Your quickwitted brain had decided to question her credibility just because she happened to side with Superwatty. If she sides with Superwatty then she must be Superwatty. Wonderful logic is that. No one wants hollow apologies. Your problem is that you just can't admit you got it wrong , just like you've got it wrong again today when you say Mr and Mrs T started it, perhaps innocently ( how condescending of you). I was nowhere to be seen when it started , but I'm sure you'll find a way to squirm out of that one.
As for your comment further down that it is different on the receiving end.........we know that........after you attacked my wife.
None of us know who Superwatty is..........or even if he exists. Oh wait a minute...it couldn't be you could it.
Mr I has said that he has checked the thing thoroughly and can't find any evidence as to Nelsonshead being Superwatty. Various other Poolies verified who she was including Poolieinnottingham , PoolietillIdie etc.
Oh and as an afterthought , you spelt from wrong. You're not as smart as you think you are my petal and never never never give up your day job to be a detective. You're just not very good at it.
End of.
