I am against the embryology bill because it will be another huge white elephant, where millions is wasted when there are millions of unwanted children in the world.

If it actually helps alleviate someones suffering, forget the mumbo jumbo and get on with it.

if someone you know and loved was dying and the powers that be came along and said if we use this embryolgy research stuff there is a chance we can save your loved one then yes
is this not an extension to all the medicines that have been developed
as for mutant kids or animals i can't realistically see it going that far

I agree with Kevin - it will cost a fortune, and no matter what advances there are in medicine people are going to die.... sadly.....

I'm all for it. Every charity wants it and they'll get funds from their donors. If the Government gives them some money, why not? They'll probably save in the long run.

Embryos aren't even humans anyway

If it offends religious objectors then it's fine by me. That's as good a recommendation as you can get. *shrug*

...absolute bollox, if that attitude prevailed, we wouldn't have penicillin, x-rays etc in fact we'd all be sat in caves now because the internet hadn't been invented and we'd all be cave painting messages to ourselves...... Worst of all  ...'Tea Tree, with a hint of Bullshit Shampoo' wouldn't have been invented.... because 'your hair was gonna fall out anyway ...... sadly'.

Having thought about it I might have to do a bit of research to find out what it's about rather than depend on whats reported in the papers.

I'm sure some of the newspapers include some factual material but after all they're a form of entertainment and colour their reporting in a way that they think their target audience would agree with.

Well, for once I don't know what I think. It's nothing to do with religion, just a queasy feeling about messing with nature.
After all we all have to die.

The other thing is, it's all to do with producing a pharmaceutical end-product, isn't it...with all that that implies. The majority of diseases can be treated or even prevented by very easy, natural methods. (Which don't always work, of course, if your time has come)
Both my parents died of cancer. We thought at the time that all the horrible side-effects of chemotherapy and radium treatment would pay-off. In fact it all just increased life by a very painful few months.
Doctors don't want you to know that what they are aiming for much of the time, and what they count as success, is to prolong life by a few months, whatever the cost to the patient

No the drugs and procedures I am talking about are attempts at cure, not painkillers. They are what doctors dish out when faced with cancer 'cases'. Apparently sometimes they work...other times they kill you or keep you alive inappropriately, in great stress and pain.
Dibble, I don't think a lot of people have any idea of how western medicine really fouls things up behind the scenes, and how little is actually based on science and evidence.
Try 'Trust me, I'm a Doctor' for starters....by Phil Hammond who was himself a doctor

Well, it's something the government is doing with the drug companies to make lots of money at your expense, encouraging you to play along by getting the Catholic Church to mount a campaign against it because of course averything the catholics believe in must be wrong and therefore the Government must be right. I think that's about the size of it.

You must save loads of money and time by not buying papers, right? And nothing matters anyway, so very wise

Well, I think gin is only for hot days.
What I like when I get home from a sub-zero temperature match is a nice glass of whiskey and green ginger. I don't even like whiskey any other time.

But not gin on a cold day

i would take issue with that
if you are old and infirm you won't have a cat in hells chance to survive longer than ten weeks
if you are bed blocking it is the FINAL SOLUTION

All any doctor can do is prolong life. I know of no doctor who's guaranteed it.
