The YORKSHIRE POST has done a league one predictor for the run in.
You may be interested.

The final top ten positions after they had predicted the results is.

1.Swansea.....................96
2.Doncaster....................90
3.Carlisle........................89
4.Forest.........................78
5.Leeds..........................69
6.Southend.....................69
7.Oldham........................68
8.Walsall.........................68
9.Tranmere......................66
10.Orient.........................62.

They think 69 points will make the play offs.
They obviously don't rate our chances.
They only mention the above ten teams and their opponents.
We are to lose to Swansea (h) draw with Forest (h) draw with Walsall (a) draw with Tranmere(a).
The bit that caught my eye was the 69 points for 5th and 6th. This may be due to the fact that the teams in the play off positions have to play each other , leaving the door open for a surge by some other club.
Can we get to 70? sctatchinghead

In the championship they predict Leicester ,Scunthorpe and Colchester to go down.

Maybe, but I doubt we'll get to 91.

In any case we wouldn't have to. There's no way Donny or Carlisle will get 89 or 90. :!:

Lets have a look at our remaining fixtures;

Tranmere A 1
Crewe A 3
Yeovil H 3
Swansea H 0
Bristol R A 1
Millwall H 3
Brighton A 1
Nottm Forest H 3
Walsall A 1

We would need 21 points realistically because our goal difference is not great compared to the top of the table and the very best I can come up with wearing my ridiculous levels of optimism hat is 16 points. That would put us on 65 points.

Being generous and assuming we can go on a run of form I've got us to finish 8th on 67 points.

Swansea 92
Donny 91
Carlisle 89
Forest 80
Leeds 71
Southend 69
Oldham 67
HUFC 67
Brighton 67
Tranny 66
Bristol R 66
Walsall 65
Orient 65
Udders 64
Swindon 60
Northampton 60
Millwall 56
Cheltenham 49
Yeovil 48
Crewe 46
Bournemouth 42
Gillingham 42
Luton 28
Port Vale 27

This would put us in the play offs

The first three are doable, Swansea's tough. Bristol Rovers are already starting to suffer their FA Cup hang over. Millwall and Brighton are also doable. Forest as I said before are making their usual end of season cock up. That would put us into yet another final day all or nothing scenario.

All that said, I don't for a second think we'll do it.

From where we stand, we need to beat teams above us, so a lot depends on a win at Tranmere. A win closes the gap dramatically and gives the confidence of four unbeaten. A loss means we stay mid table and don't show any evidence of the sort of form which deserves a play off place. So to me, much depends on getting a win on Saturday. Hope we take a good crowd of stupid optimists like me. This time last year we were away to Stockport which was probably the most entertaining match I have seen in years and certainly showed great commitment. Admittedly it was a draw, but if we can win on Saturday, a claim to a play off place or thereabouts is not so far-fetched.

I got us on 64 points...but I reckon the key game could be Swansea at home. I wouldn't expect to get anything from it, but it's one we would seriously need to win to have even a remote chance.

Brighton, Tranmere and Bristol away are big asks.

The key game is Tranmere! Win and we're up there. Lose and we're nowhere.

My renewed optimism is based not on the last couple of results, but on the way that we played (especially the second half) on Tuesday night.

Can't make Tranny on Saturday like, so will get the feedback on here over the weekend which will hopefully continue the current mood.

I'm not really optimistic but hell, I mean if you can't speculate what's the point?

I'd be even more stupidly optimistic if we win on Saturday.

the change to key personnel in the line up since the Bournemouth debacle, has been the major factor in Pools' upturn in fortunes. W eknow who those players are, I'm sure the management know who those players are.
I'm not so sure they won't revert to type, regarding team selections when the opportunity arises.

Even DW will stick to the same team if it keeps winning. Hell, he wouldn't even substitute anyone on Tuesday which is a bit extreme.

there would have been a few groans if he had subbed anyone, given the scoreline and the personnel available on the bench.................................

You started it, tubby!!

Can people please stop worrying about Bristol Rovers. They have drawn 12 of their games and won only ten. I know they have four in hand but there is absolutely no evidence that they will win them. They will draw or lose the lot.
