I've just been looking at their Rivals board - first time in months and I was a bit suprised to see them saying they'd be satisfied by a 3500 crowd tonight.

We're crap and still beating that, they're doing well and looking good for promotion but the Darlington public is not turning out. Without getting all silly about it, why do you think a town the size of Darlo can't motivate the public? I seem to remember when I was a kid their attendance was always a bit better than ours and we were both shite then.

I think it's the ground. Imagine us having an out of town stadium with a fiver to park , traffic problems , no pubs or clubs nearby etc etc etc............oh and lots of echos

It's not very far out of town is it? But the location must be a factor. By this time last season we were getting between 6 and 7,600 for every game in a similar position, Christ we took more to Darlo's ground than they would be happy with this evening rolfl Serious alarm bells must be ringing if they can't attract crowds in what is looking to be the best season they have had since the days when it was quite acceptable to wear a shell suit.

It could be more down to watching football in such a soulless pointless environment. It could be because they aren't very good to watch or it could be because Darlington don't deserve a football club

Purely down to it being a pain in the arse to get there & back instead of 2 minutes walk from the boozer.

I would put it down to:

Soulless stadium.
Pure apathy.

And probably, the main reason, No cash turnstiles.

Snotdick must be wondering what he has to do to get them into the white elephant..

That stadium will be the death of them... (c) the late ECG..

Just imagine how many they'd get if they where playing crap and they had to pay "proper " prices to get in!!

Things are so bad they had to let Mr Snotdick go a while ago, I believe he was moved to a job in another one of Mr Houghton's Companies.

when Darlo built that new stand at Feethams, they were planning to reconstruct the ground eventually. That would have seen them remain at their spiritual home and the crowds would have came there if they were successful, similar to how Pools crowds have grown. A good match atmosphere could have been generated in a tight 10,000 capacity ground. They should have stayed there for so many reasons.
A big, big mistake, and one made by a bloke who has been back to the chokey. If Darlo fans could turn the clock back, they would all to a man have rather stayed where they were (location-wise I mean) and fight their way through the troubled times at a re-developed Feethams.
Imagine Pools moving to the outskirts of town = same result without a doubt.
