Stockport is truly horrible. Imagine Horden multiplied by 20.

3) Edgeley Park again, County 1, Pools 3, Kevin Pooles debut in goal after taking over from Flapper Cox, and the night I started to believe we could go up for the first time in my pools-supporting life.

what a fantastic night that was i remember thinking that kevin francis who normally tortured us didnt get a kick all night and kevin poole was just awesome a enjoyable friday night wonder why they stopped having all their home games on a friday :!:

During Coopers 1st season our 2-1 victory there took us into 2nd place in the 3rd highest division, equalling our highest ever standing.

That 2-1 win got Carlton Palmer sacked clap

The river Mersey begins in Stockport.

The hobbit whos in Lost (Dominic Monoghan) is from Stockport

10cc are from Stockport too.

Night match if I remember correctly? Did Paddy Atkinson pick out Bakes from the left touchline for one of the goals? (Or is this too much for memory man ECG?)

Stockport isn't that bad. There's a couple of intimidating pubs, like.

another Stockport fact:

it was where that cannabis cafe was. I was in a coffee shop in Haarlem, near Amsterdam, and behind the bar they had a Stockport mug, apparently a gift from the bloke who ran the cannabis shop in stockport.

1. My missus lives in Stockport's spam belt, Poynton. It's only 20mins from her house to Edgeley Park.

2. Stockports idea of segregation: walk through all their supporters to the 'away end,' which is the far end of the stand. Walk back through them on the way out.

3. If you thought Chris Turner was shite at Wednesday, you should have seen his performance at Stockport.

4. It's got a bloody great viaduct running all the way through it.

5. There's an air raid shelter under Stockport that could hold 7000 people during the war, as opposed to the bombsite that is Edgeley Park which only gets 3200 or thereabouts except when Sale Sharks are playing there when it's full.

Atkinson didn't play

Priestley, Nobbs, McKinnon, Tinkler, Smith, Bennyworth, Allon, Tupling, Baker, Macdonald, Dalton. Subs: Honour, Olsson

I seem to remember Macdonald's goal "cursed" the Town End. It was the last goal we scored in that end for ages!

That's not the memory then! It's just that, as a kid, I liked Paddy Ak (don't know why) while all my mates thought that he was shit (better judge of player etc.) but one day, he put in a pimmer of a cross onto Bakes' head from right on the touchline, and I went mental! Can't remember the day, match or anything else about it!!!

The way 10cc were formed isn't that more likely to be 5cc.
So is it Stewart and Goldman or Godley and Creme?

Derek loadwick...remember him.we signed him from stockport and I remember him scoring a beauty, left footed curler at the town end against his old club we won 3 0 that day I think.

remember stockport having some serious nutters following them in the 70s.a particular memory is of them following us all round into the rink end after half time to continue the first half punch up,as there had been a queensberry type break for tea at half time

on mad johns excellent website.if you follow the directions for stockport you will arrive at oakwell, barnsley.

So a game that Baker scored in and Atkinson played? Here's the home games.

1988/89 Colchester (H), 2-1 Tinkler, Baker
1989/90 Peterborough (H), 2-2 Allon, Baker
1989/90 Rotherham (H), 1-4 Baker

Bloody hell! I still can't remember - maybe Colchester because I think we won, but my memory's gash!

1) And anyone who was there MUST agree....Marco Gabbiadini's goal in that night match we won 2-1 at their place. The best individual goal by a Pools Player ever? Comments please, from Bunker member PDE147.....

I told everyone the next day he beat 7 men before he scored that goal. I'm sure it seemed like that at the time!

Stockport Away October 1988 - a monday night - crashed the car in fog near brierton shops - got to ground half time - had to pay full in the stand and then get escprted to away terrace - always enjoyed that bit mind - can't mind what the score were at 1/2 time but i know we lost 3-0 and got quite pissed on the way home and then stopped at the BP near Northallerton for a piss and the bogs were locked so we jemmied the window open and let the lass who was with us in and then butchly closed the window and blocked the door when she came out.

That was when the Police came.........i'll not mention the somewhat drunk driver and the drugs and the criminal damage!!

never been back to stockport.

I'll go back to the 1988/89 season,we played Stockport away on a Monday night,a few of us went in a guys car.The car had no ariel so we couldnt listen to the radio,he only had one cassette so we got it all the way there & all the way back.

The Cassette was Erasure

Trax include 'a little respect' & that awful cover of 'river deep mountain high'

& we lost 3-0 too

You have been back to Stockport Katcha.
On the night of Gabbadinis wonder Goal we went into the ground, didnt realise that the Pools end was at the far end of the stand so 4 of us went in the Stockport part of the stand, when we all jumped up for Pools 1st goal we were moved down to join the rest of the Poolies
