I once took a dozen leeks to Swansea.

It wasn't this season though, it was actually to the Vetch. So I can't see it being much help at all to honest young Tom plus I've never even been to Gillingham, Millwall, or Yeovil never mind took stuff.

in 93/94 we took seven to Swansea. Murton Les went on his own and was gutted he wasn't the only one there. He said to me, "I should have knarn (yakker past tense) that yee'd be here"!!!
There was 4 in my car, and a bloke who came from Coventry to watch Houchen play, and his mate who he dragged along for the ride - but his mate didn't even like football!!! True story - even the Latimers, French's etc couldn't make it because the game was switched to a Friday night on the Wednesday at Swansea's request!! Pools agreed to it because it meant John MacPhail wouldn't be suspended, as his ban commenced the following day!!!! We would certainly have had more on the Saturday - but it was an experience to put it mildly.

You's are all just showing off now, with your "I remember this game" and "I remember that game" crap.

I've been to loads of away games that I can't even remember being at, some which I don't know how I got there and others when I'm not even sure if I made it there or not.

Four of us in the away end at Mansfield the year they won the 4th division championship. Great merriment in the home supporters when we were singing 'you're supposed to be at home'

An old myth I heard was that we only took 18 to Swansea when the club won their first evre promotion. Apparaently a load of Poolies stood outside the Mail offices that night waiting for the final score - probably sparked wild scenes of celebration.
My folks rang the club the next morning to ask what the score was from the payphone on the corner.

I went to Colchester when they had a ban on away supporters, as I was (and still do) live in Essex I went in plain clothes, well no Pools jersey or scarf and stood with Colchester supporters. We won and it was very difficult to stifle a cheer. I seem to remember it was one of Rob Moverley's first games for us - and we still won.
I'm sure other Poolies were there but similarly disguised.

right.................................................I was the only one who went to watch Pools play Guam away on a Wednesday night at 3 o'clock in the morning in the now defunct Intercontinental Oceanic Shield (now known as the Associate Members Cup) where we lost 23-0 and we were lucky to get nil. And the away end was uncovered, and a typhoon blew across the pitch, and I was on 6 till 2 the following day. thrilled

Friday night match at Crewe in 83/84 only one poolie went, my mate dave A. There was an old man at the time who went to all the games and Dave thought there were only the two of them there. Towards the end of the season Dave was talking to this old bloke who mentioned the only away game he had missed was the Crewe game.

A funny story was that Dave ( not wearing colours,as this was in the days of serious footy violence) on getting off the train went straight to the nearest boozer that had bouncers on the door it been a Friday , to be refursed entry as away supporters were not allowed.

I was at that game about 50 of us in an away that held 4,000!! Preston hadn't lost for about 25 games (against Arsenal!) and we were 1-0 down with five minutes left cue some goon in the Preston end next to us to open his coat and reveal that he was actually wearing a Darlo top. Perfect timing as in the next couple of minutes Midgley and Miller netted to give us a 2-1 win clappp

The whole away contingent were doing the conga around all the rows of empty seats whilst laughing at this Loid with his tail firmly between his legs.

A great night
