Louis Bianco was in Whitby street
the Yorkshire Lassie in York road
the one at the Brus corner was very poor i preferred the wooden hut next to the tunnel run by Billy O Dells family two huts one for kids sweets and one for the drivers tea stop that was when Burdons lorries used to take sand from the beach
any one remember ex chairman John Currys place in Lynn street
i think he also had one at the bottom of Musgrave street

and the Woodpeker Cafe near Seaton baths

Does any one remember the Rainbow at Seaton.....coffee/burger bar at the front, and a room at the back with a disco?
It was run by someone called Ken Tyzack, I think. The fifth form at the High School were permanently digging down the back of sofa cushions to scape up money for the bus fare and a cup of coffee

I can't place where it was, now, except that it was somewhere between the Marine and the Seaton. Sometimes have a look down there for clues, but other buildings seem to have swallowed it up

There's an alleyway that goes through to the side entrance to the park and it was to the right of there. The buildings still there but I think it's a rock shop now or something. Officially I'm still barred out of the Golden Sands.... booting the Penny Falls machines...:sweet: :sweet:

What's this? Wasn't the Rainbow near the old baths on the steelworks side of Coronation Drive or was that called something else?
The cafe at the bottom of Musgrave Street was the original Pic.
The first Chinese Restaurants in town were the Bamboo Terrace in Lynn Street and the Golden Pagoda in ... er ... help!
There was a posh cake shop in Stockton Street called Mason's Waverly Cafe where I guess the Clansman was later built.
The Co-op central stores had a magnificent cafe with a huge window overlooking Musgrave street and with little old waitresses in black dresses and white pinnies. The scones .... ah the scones!
The Kit Kat café on the corner of Belk Street and Hart (now Raby) Road was where the Teds hung out in their beetle crushers.
The Yorkshire Lassie was owned by Stefan Hayward's dad who I guess must have been called Mr Hayward.
Also a vague memory of a cafe called the something tea rooms.

That was the Bamboo Terrace.

The first takeaway was in Stockton Road near Cornwall Street on the St Aidan's side. It was opened by Ho Hong (no kidding) who I believe also had a Chinese laundry.
There was another Chinese laundry run by Mr Wu but he gave it up to become a window cleaner in Saltburn.
