glasvegas are on at the knights in Boro shortly [as are we] but I think there date has sold out [unlike ours]

No they have a EP, out might not be better than them but thats just my opinion anyway.

The Raveonettes - Lust Lust Lust

I've just got into this band - they're heavily influenced by My Bloody Valentine & the Jesus & Mary Chain. Sounds brilliant.

I was going to reply myself, but I thought if I left it either you or chip would save me the bother. :sweeeet:

Prolapse were always another favourite. I liked the contrast of twee tuneful female/radged mad jock bastad male vocals.

Bis, My Latest Novel, Fence Collective, Reindeer Section, The Vaselines etc. There are so many great Scottish bands. I think Scotland really needs to take a look at itself if it hasn't produced any great bands since 1984!

Prolapse are one of my all time favourite bands - definitely in the top 5. I used to keep in touch with them & still do occasionally. I keep asking them to reform - they're a great bunch. Linda (Steelyard) & Scottish Mick's stage act was a site to behold, it was never the same twice. One of the guitarists came from Sunderland so there's a small north east connection.
I've got their first album on vinyl with a hand painted cover - one of my most prized possessions & have all the other albums as well. Pull thru' Barker is my favourite single ever.
Chip has seen them live as well.

Well to tell you the truth I ain't heard most of them bands and the only other good band in Scotland i new where jesus and the mary chain. I should do more research. refred

How dare you! Belle & Sebastian are my favourite band. They have been consistently good, at times excellent, for the past 13 years and over 7 albums worth (not counting their Push Barman... album containing b-sides and rarities).

Push Barman is top notch - my not counting it in my last comment wasn't meant to be disparaging of it but merely meant to highlight the quality of their output by not counting as a full album if you get what I mean. It has some of the best songs they've ever made; Loneliness of the Middle-Distance Runner, Slow Graffiti, Dog On Wheels, Lazy Line Painter Jane and This Is Just A Modern Rock Song for example.

As this seems to be a discussion on Scottish bands, just to clarify that Prolapse were in fact a Leicester based band with just Scottish Mick originating from North of the Border.
I like most of the Scottish bands recently mentioned and would add The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (both with the late Alex & currently).

Which page are you on chip? I have every copy of Mojo from day 1 in the wardrobe - never missed a copy but I have clearly missed you to my eternal discredit.

Scottish bands - few major league players out of Scotland for me although the Jesus and Mary Chain were arguably the best band in the world for a while there. Love 'em. Primal Scream are also a top band and the Fannies even better but the best of the rest by a million miles is the Average White Band. Their 'white album' is an absolute corker.

Just now I'm listening to 'the very best of ethiopiques' - real indie music that is! :sweeeet:
