I was there too.

Cracking day out and very drunk.

I didn't drive though.

I seem to recall that Ryan Cross was with Bury then too but not playing that day and I think he was sat in the stand just along from where us away fans were sat and getting plenty of abuse?

ah those were the days!!

it was early-mid 90's that i really started going to pools regularly - those names bring back a few memories! what ever happened to gucky after fulham? i was thinking about that era the other day. some of that team were pretty good, i always liked macauley, gucky, halliday when he was in the mood, horney was a legend! remember when him and billing punched each other during a match?

we really did have to endure some dross tho - both players and managers! we were that starved of success that winning games was an awesome feeling.

remember people like kona hislop, skeddy, paul thompson (still playing at gateshead), jason ainsley, denny ingram....

Didn't he come back here on loan from Fulham, albeit with dodgy knees, and then signed for Oxford before retiring with the crocked knees?

Gucky and Gilly were an awesome centre back pairing like!

oh aye - phil gilchrist - we've certainly had some great centre halves over the years haven't we! barron played centre half when he first came to the club and did a good job there, i was chuffed when we made that permanent. mcphail was another great centre half, not cultured perhaps but you'd not want to get tackled by him!

makes me want to dig out that old video (christ - a video rather than dvd!) of the goals i used to tape from the sunday match, where they'd show pools goals (on a good week) after harping on about the "big 3" for the rest of the programme.

Spike should still be able to do a decent job for us, but it does remind me of Guckys return on loan, he was poor.

I can recall Brian Horne almost coming to blows with Keith Houchen during a match at Gillingham.

Houchen was player/manager at the time, Horne got binned at half time and was never seen again.

Talking of Brian Horne, anyone remember his penalty against Scarborough in the cup?

Aye- it was at the Town End and we were stood in there at the time.

Did Horney not get binned cos he was pulling a scam on the team lunches from Asda?

Didn't he also sub Horne for Jones it that match...

We were WOEFUL that day, Houchen even had a go at Jones as well for missing a cross and looked like punching his lights out

He defiantly had 'anger management issues'

I did hear that rumour Mr Ripper, I don’t know if there was any truth in it.

Jones did replace Horne at half time.

Geordie pooly could be right, I think Peter Billing may have been involved in the fight too.

was the penna against scarborough a cup match and his was the final kick??

what about when he had that keeper come in on loan or a short term contract and he did really well and we wanted to keep him but he turned us down cos he made more money working shifts at the black and decker (i think?) factory!!

can't remember his name - was playing in non league i think...

one of my favourite's ever was skeddy chinning adrian heath in a match - i think they got two sent off that match and they'd brought up a full rink end confident of beating us and we turned them over 4-2 or something! i met adrian heath once and brought it up - should have seen his face!

It was against Scarborough in the League cup, Brian Horne took (and scored) our fifth penalty, it then went to sudden death, Mick Tait got the winner.

Hawklord is right Paul O'Connor was the keeper. I’m not totally sure about this but didn’t he work at Wilkinson Sword.

A bit of a dodgy place to work for a goalkeeper confised

here's one for you - remember playing preston at home in the league in 1994? i think it was mccreery's first game in charge as boss and he started cos we were that short of players - he was 38 and hadn't played in years!!!

I thought McCreery's first game in charge was away to Arsenal in the Milk? Cup, I was only a kid back then like, good night that despite getting beat 5-0.
