Home made chips are top notch, anyone who comes home blaked shouldn't attempt to cook anything....

This may be a story that many folk have heard, however it made me laugh.

Years ago a mate of my uncle got home, pissed as a fart

He was still living at home and his mam and dad were tucked up in bed, so he decided to make a bit of supper
He opened the fridge and the only thing he could see and was an already cracked egg on a saucer
So he put the frying pan on, added some lard and let the bad boy heat up

He then slid the egg into the pan and waited and waited and waited and waited, no action, just the yolk was visable

So he waited a while longer, then his dad came downstairs, no doubt woken from his slumber by the smell of burning fat and said......

I once came home pissed & decided to have something to eat,opened the fridge to have a look what was in,my Dad got up for the early shift at 6 in the morning & found me fast asleep on the floor in front of the open fridge

My brother came in once pissed with a takeaway...you could hear him rummaging and banging and then it went quiet... the old feller went down next morning and found him fast asleep on his back still on the chair where he'd tipped backwards...covered in his takeaway....the dog followed him in and attacked the takeawy with relish...he still never woke up.

Ban the chip pan.... what a load of sh1te!!!
We might as well ban kitchen knives too, cos if you want to you could kill yourself with one of those as well.... it's bad news about her son like but come on, ban chip pans?

agreed, if anyone is stupid enough to put especially a chip pan on when they have had a good session they need their heads checking

No1 The hartlepool Mail has not got the story fully correct or

No2 the people who have read it have read it wrong.


What the campaign refers to is rightly to "BAN THE PAN" NOT the chip

What it refers to is banning the old fashioned chip pan, with it's oil in it, this type of pan heats up and carries on heating the oil until it bursts into flames. Resulting in a house fire,and possible fire deaths.

It also says that a deep fat fryer IS SAFER AS THIS IS THERMOSTATICALLY CONTROLLED ,It heats the oil to a certain temperature and then cuts out. The oil cools and once below the required temperature the themostat cuts back in and re heats the oil.

Now Mutley states he never had the urge to put a chip pan on drunk well "Good for him"......other's have not been as sensible as him.....SOME OF THOSE CANT POST ON HERE, THE CHIP PAN BURSTING INTO FLAMES ENSURED THAT AS IT TOOK THEIR LIFE.

DONT KNOCK A CAMPAIGN THAT IS DESIGNED TO SAVE LIVES , SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU BEEN SENSIBLE ENOUGH NOT TO PUT A CHIP PAN ON.

And before I get any replies to this post.........YES I have seen the aftermath of a chip pan fire, FIRST HAND and NO i didnt leave one on while drunk. I FOUGHT THE FIRES AND HAVE PULLED PEOPLE OUT OVER 29 YEARS OF FIGHTING FIRES.......SOME CAN TELL THE TALE.........SOME CANT

The dog had curry breath at both ends for a week .....

.... touble is, you can't actually stop someone putting oil in any pan and heating it up to make chips... and I suppose the same would have to apply to frying pans as they possess the same qualities albeit on a smaller scale.
I would suggest that giving out the message is the only practical way around the problem.

Agreed Snowy, I totally empathise with anyone who is unfortunate enough to have died or lost someone in a chip pan fire. However, we can't all be 'wrapped up in cotton wool', there's hundreds of things that could be banned as they are potentially life threatening - all forms of transport, most sports, etc etc.....
Maybe the message should promote awareness rather than banning pans?

funniast thing i encountered a few years ago a drunken sweatie sock
bolloxed the frying pan in the billet by cooking 2 choc wagon wheels in the belief they were burgers

I thought Scotsmen usually did that anyway, even when they know they are chocky bars.
