Budtz 4: All the consistency of a Chivers jelly and inspires little confidence, but more than Lee-Barrett. Some howlers but a couple of brilliant saves.
Sweeney 8: Mr Energy all night and had to adapt to a number of positions (oo-err). Three goals in the last few games. Where's Jonny?
Nelson 7: Strong in the air and on the ground and was a better player when Antwi was shoved to right-back then hooked.
Antwi 2: Awful defending, distribution and so on. Iraq can defend better.
Humphreys 6: Did nowt wrong in my eyes. Was he injured?
Foley 5: Lots of running, no end product, missed a glorious chance.
Boland 6: Played his part.
Thompson 7: Came into his own once they went down to 10 men. Quality left foot and a calm head.
Liddle 7: Did superb when asked to dig Antwi out of the shit. A proper footballer.
Porter 8: Brilliant game from the wizard of Aus and his partnership with Barker is starting to blossom.
Barker 9: A colossus all game. Won nearly every flick and scored two vital goals. So what if he runs 100m in 25seconds? That's 17 for the season isn't it?
Robson 7: Worse defender than Antwi but he offered something going forward which wasn't there first half.
Mackay 6: Should have scored but he looks like he would give a drug-free Dwain Chambers a run for his money.
McCunnie 6: Proper footballer, classy right-back. WTF isn't he in every week?

Wilson 8: Got it right in the end. You have to admit that. Although he was getting a 3 at half-time. rolf

4 is way too good a rating for Budtz, he messed up for the 2nd goal and kicked thin air TWICE, he is still better than ALB tho!

Mind he did pull off a great save at 2-2. If they'd had scored then it'd have been game over

Well done Budzy babe :sweeeet:

"Humphreys 6: Did nowt wrong in my eyes. Was he injured?"

No he was shiite and has been for about 3 year now. He can't pass to a team mate who is more than five yards away and is out of position constantly. Great to see Matty Robson take his place and have twice the game "Sir Ritchie" did.

League 2 is his level and the sooner we get rid of him the better.

Knee injury actually, just passed a fitness test to actually play tonight. Also was one of our better first half performers.

Didn't you suggest Antwi was better than Nelson earlier in the the season rolfl

It was totally fooking shite chip. Garbage.

Get out jail free times 300, Port Vale cacked themselves as soon as we scored the first. Barker was excellent all game, Porter had his moments and Sweeney is back to approaching his best. What annoys me is that certain posters will always look to have a go at Humphreys are you seriously suggesting that he was our worst player in that half when Antwi and Budtz performed like that!? He was subbed because he was injured and probably shouldn't have started.

If Sweeney is allowed to leave Hartlepool United it would be an absolute disgrace he deserves a run in the team and decent contract offer.

Totally agree about Sweeney. As for Chip, can't help having a dig at Barker can you? Where would we be without his goals? sctatchinghead

I've never seen a game of two halves quite like it. We were destroyed in the first half and kicked into shape after the first goal. If the guy hadn't been sent off, or Barker hadn't have had the opportunity to head it in, I think the story would have been much different.

Wilson got out of jail tonight. If we'd've lost, it would have been game over.

I was waiting for the 'Can't Comment' comment!!!!

Come on....2-0 down with 15 minutes played to by the sounds of it....the worse team in the League....which I find quite hard to believe after watching some of the teams this season!!!!

fair enough we come back to win 3-2....getting 2 goals in the last couple of minutes and them having a man sent off after 59 minutes....but come on....Wilson 8!!!!

So tell me....please....what did Wilson do tonight that I actually missed whilst listening to the Commentary on the Radio to warrant an 8???? sctatchinghead

I don't know....by the sounds of it we played very very poorly for 70 odd minutes....scrape the win and now Wilson deserves to be Knighted!!!!

And I get ridiculed cos |I wasn't there to actually see what Wilson did!!!!

You couldn't make it up!!!!

i'll give the lad credit - he did ok against a shit team. He scored a very important goal, if you were bring critical though you would have to say his booking was silly. Just because he scored and played ok for once does not mean that he is suddenly a good footballer though does it?

If we want Pools to be challenging towards the top 6 of this league then Sweeney is not good enpugh consistantly and everyone knows it.... i'm just amazed that teams like Doncaster and Bradford are interested.....

See that's the most contradictory horse shite you talk on this subject, when he was a regular in the side we were in the top six of this league never mind 'challenging' for it, oh and he scored 15 in a season in the process. To criticise someone for showing a bit of passion when they score a goal three minutes from the end is rolfl stpid

PJ - Your opinions obviously change like the wind as you yourself just the other week said that Sweeney had gone backwards as a player since that season many YEARS ago. And you were right it just took you a while to catch on.

I was merely sympathsing with the lad's situation Jonny he is going backwards because he isn't playing every week, show me a post where I have critised him as a player and I'll hold my hands up. I've always rated him, he just needs a run in the team he's certainly good enough and has enough hunger to take his chance.

I have never seen a worse goalkeeping display than Budtz last night. I thought ALB looked ok, but I've only been to the home games. I can't see how we can persist with Budtz in goal and if ALB is as bas as people on here suggest then we need a goalie in on loan asap.

That proves beyond any doubt that you weasle like journos will do any amount of cock sucking to ensure you get some interviews etc at the club.

Utter bollox.

So are you saying Wilson's the greatest strategist/tactician since Alexander the Graet...?

You've got to feel a bit sorry for both Sweeney and McCunnie. Both young lads who have had to sit on the bench and watch Bolland play every week and as far as the right back position goes, McCunnie did nothing wrong yet has had to watch as Coles, Nolan and Antwi fill-in in that postion. (None of whom could lace Mickey Barron's boots and yet why hasn't he been told to get match fit and fill in?)
Both of them need a bit of encouragement from Wilson and a run in the team in their best positions.

There was no lack of effort last night just a bunch of players that are lacking confidence.
Nelson has suffered all season by not having the steady Clark next to him and has been affected by Antwi's poor positional play and bad decision making.

A rumour I heard last week was that Liverpool pay Antwi his £5k p.w. wages when he plays but Pools have to pay it if he isn't picked.
It would certainly explain a few things.

Cheer up everyone, We won't go down but we need major clear out for next season.

Nah, you're right. Wilson got it wrong in the second half. Taking off Antwi and Humpty were stupid moves.
