but at least we're a country which doesn't ban freedom of speech, and we abhor those that do, and we wouldn't care if we offended a country with awful human rights abuses. In fact, even if it meant losing out on loads of business with an up and coming economical power, we would stick to our principles of democracy and freedom at all times if that up and coming power was a tyrrany. In fact, we would never participate in an Olympics in a place like that to begin with.

Oh dear, I'm wrong aren't I?

I am one of the athletes who was asked to sign one of these contracts. I don't agree AT ALL with China's stance on Human Rights or Tibet etc. but these contracts are exactly the same as the ones we signed before Athens 2004.

As athletes we are free to express any views we choose politically, just not when in the Athletes Village or at the venues when representing Team GB.

no mate! don't even know who he is... Am related to a former Pools player though!

Interestingly i got an e-mail from the BOA yesterday saying that they will re-issue athlete agreements due to a "missunderstanding"!

"I have been asked to collect back the agreements distributed to you last week as they are now incorrectly worded. The BOA will re-issue the agreement in due course, and I will find an appropriate opportunity for you to sign the proper version."

Would that not be the Yachting event Mr I as our defence seems all at sea most of the time
