Can't remember the year though - 76 or 77 I think????

I've always played as a rightback so didn't score my first goal until I played University footy. Near post header from a corner; the first goal of that season; an equaliser and we went on to win 7-5 (shit keepers!).

I can remember the first (and only) time I scored at the Vic around 1988. Played the Mail in a match raising money for Oggy's sister who had something beginning with M, Muscular Dystrophy probably, raised the money for an electric wheelchair for her.
It was about 20 odd seconds into the game. We got a free-kick and I came up for it. The ball came over. I jumped. I could picture me thumping it into the top corner. The ball was coming right onto my head. I got a bit of a shove in the back. The ball hit me on the shoulder and rolled softly in the bottom corner. Still they all count.
We had it on video. Garrards dad and grandad videod the whole match from that old tower thing.
The commentary goes something like this...
Aw bloody hell its gone in, they've scored
Was that our Garrard who scored that one?
Nah
You sure?
Yeah, it was our Garrard taking the free kick
Aw right, who scored then?
Dunno

Scored my first one for Greatham against St. Josephs when I was about 10. ball rolled loose 8 yards out and I thumped it past the keeper. Think we lost 4-3 in a bit of a thriller, though I remember us getting the ball over the line but the ref didn't see it. the injustice still hurts to this day.

My first real goal was "glanced". A glancing header from a corner into the top left of the goal

Right well mine was for Fens against Rossy. I told Ian Blackwell at right mid that when the corner came in I'd be behind him and when he slid the silky through ball in I toe ended it past Philip Taylor, son of Peter Taylor who always had the best foty kit at Fens Juniors.

Salty - tattyender is a legit description in my book. Its the same as "spudding it" or "spuddyender" - meaning smacking the ball with the very front of your shoe/boot.
I remember getting the size twelve gym shoe from Mr Smith at Tunny for simply calling him smithy when I didnt realise he was behind us.
Always keen on ruling the roost and dishing out punishment were the PE teachers at Tunny (Smithy (yer 'lovely lovely person') and Brown(?)bridge) - especially if you werent their favourite. I heard many years ago that at least one of them had been sacked for physically abusing pupils - allegedly, allegedly, allegedly
Anyone know if there was any truth in that?

Sorry Salty,

think the snippet read "a fine solo run from -Trapper- was just the ticket Jesmond needed to pull themselves back into the game".

So it must have been a George Best dribble   with a tap in

I don't play regular football, but American Football.

I didn't score a goal at competitive level - but I did break someone's arm in a tackle last year on offensive line. Does that count?

I daresay if you did watch it you'd pick it up pretty easily, and is by far more fun to watch than football as the teams tend to score a lot :D

Agreed with handball like, although I hate when people call it puff's rugby - it's way way way more intense

St Teresas 5, Lynnfield 1.

"A hat-trick by Marty Hewitt plus a first goal for Winger Phillip Dunn and a late goal by Kevin Musgrave gave Teresas a great start to the season against a Lynnfield side that never gave up trying".

D'yknow, I can remember it like it was yesterday. Grayfields, bottom pitch next to Jesmond Rd. We had Yellow Shirts, Green Collars, Black Shorts, Green Socks. 3-0 up at half-time, I took a corner, which came back out to me. Brayed it back in, straight through the crowded box and In!!

I played centre back under Tony Carter while at St Teresas, never got a goal though.

Which wasn’t surprising, considering he had a tactic of never letting any of his back four cross the half way line, come what may. I hated playing anyone crap, I would spend the best part of the game standing on the centre spot, freezing my bollocks off.

First goal was for St Francis under 12’s against Belle Vue, direct from a free kick, a beautiful curling effort :sweet: , think Gary Liddle

My first goal was for Lynnfield against Cowpen Bewley in 1984,i followed that up with a hat-trick a week later against Brougham  At the time Paul Dobson was a regular for Pools and being a Lynnfield old boy was my hero :sweet: clap

He came to the school a couple of times to train us courtesy of our director of football Mr Berthou.

Ah, Rene Berthou...worst referee in Junior football, but a lovely bloke!

He certainly is a good bloke Elvis,i was talking to him the other week at the Torquay match,he was with an old lady who i assume is his mam.

Eric Wilson was also one of our teachers,he is a big Pools fan as well, wasnt he the chairman of the supporters club at one time?

Does he live on Eldon Grove, I think that I went to school with one of his daughters.

Anyways my first goal was when I played for my Boys Brigade, I was normally a full back or goalkeeper but one game I managed to wangle my way into playing up front and I scored from about 8 yards out in off the post job
