Ideally,I would like to go up as champions,if not I reckon I would rather win the play offs than go up in 2nd or 3rd place,as if your not champions your position is irrelevant as long as you do go up.
Obviously we would rather go straight up than risk getting beat in the play offs, but lets assume that we do win the play offs,
Would you rather get an automatic or go to Cardiff(Wembley ?) & get promoted on a big day out ??

I'd rather just get promoted than go through the play offs.

The last game of the season would be guaranteed to be a great day out with no heartache

given that we are currently 9th i think its a tad optimistic to be talking about winning the league.

with a bit of luck and some inspired signings theres no reason we cant make the play offs, but we need to find some consistency. i know that probably sounds a bit negative after wilson has just won the manager of the month but i still cant get my head round what im seeing. one game we look like world beaters the next we look dreadful. the shrewsbury debacle and the capitulation at sincil bank suggest that theres still a lot of work to be done.

a lot of people ( myself included) thought this division would be a stroll in the park with the players we had on the books. if im honest i think we are going to struggle to catch walsall who are 10 points ahead of us and have a plus 17 goal difference.

Two nil away from home is hardly a capitualtion

I don't think we capitulated at Lincoln. More worryingly, we were outplayed.

With the ability of foresight and the knowledge that we would get promoted I would rather have a repeat of the Cardiff experience followed by a win. What a weekend that was! The build up to it, the drive down, the pints beforehand, the stadium experience, coming back from being behind with no hope to being in front and looking like we were gonna make it.
The amount of Pools fans there, the noise we made, those watching on television.
Champions first
Play off winners second
Other automatic place third.
Realistically, like Chip I would be delighted with even getting to the play offs right now. Unless Brown or Foley kick on massively we will still need another centre forward as Daly cant keep up the goals ratio and Porter has never really scored loads. And unless Humpty comes straight in at left back our left side and right side do look very weak for the time being.

Either scenario would be great so long as we went up, but I have to say if it's Wembley then the play-offs for definite. If it's Cardiff, then top three please.
However asking if we would like to finish in the top three is indeed hypothetical, because quite simply we are three/four players short of the quality required to finish there. Left back, left mid, right mid positions all need new blood right now and I still think Daly and Porter are not "out and out" goalscorers, so I would also like to see a striker in the Chris Greenacre/ Rory Fallon/ Luke Beckett mould (yes I know they are unavailable but I'm hoping there just might be a player out there who can do what they can - who knows eh)? Let's start looking!!!
Oh yeah, and DROP THE GREEK FROM IN GOAL MR WILSON - the first goal on Friday reminded me more and more of Anthony Williams - rubbish.
Provett in goal for now, and strengthening the positions as above and we'd pi$$ the league if we got them all in January!!!
Otherwise we'll have to challenge for sixth/seventh.

There is an important game coming up against Stockport.
This will be a good indication of the team's capabilities

They play offs are the only realistic possibilities

A 4th division play-off final against Torquay or Notts County or Wycombe?
Whoopie-fookin-dooooooo, what a day that promises to be.

Gimme straight promotion please. I'll save the play-off final for the Wendies again next season if you don't mind.

I think the title is still doable although I would expect more of a top three spot. Play offs...... great if we win them but there's the rub. A choice of 3rd or 4th place is no choice at all.
