"BRIDLINGTON Town's hopes have been hit by a further blow with the news that striker Jack Wilkinson has quit the club through a total disillusionment with the game.

Most fans will feel a lot of sympathy with the talented local-based youngster, who after starting his career with Hartlepool United began the season in the York City squad.

Having been released by the Conference side, his capture was seen as a major acquisition for his home-town side.

But for the vast majority of the season, he was left to carry the attack in a vastly inferior side, and was at the club for around 20 games until the team actually won under the newly-appointed management team of Ash Berry and Paul Stoneman.

Unsurprisingly, his confidence and self-belief have been left in pieces and he has left the club with immediate effect.

He undoubtedly possesses the ability to be a major player at UniBond level, and should certainly figure in the 'Goal of the season' awards at least twice after stunning efforts against Chorley and Cammell Laird.

A weary Town side shoehorned in four games in eight days as a chaotic last week of the UniBond Division One campaign finally saw the Seasiders relegated."
