I thought it was Darlows current ground with a space ship (possibly a Silver Machine) landed on top of it.

I'd love to support a team that has spent hundreds of millions to finish fifth, or sixth in the permiershite

PS

The European Cup (as it is now), is a two-bob piss trophy worth fcuk all (in terms of glory) so they can jam that one up their desperately unfunny arseholes

Yet their beloved club are going to spend 350million on one stadium. That stadium, or a stadium with that many seats could be built for a quarter of that money

It's a good chuckle on here sometimes.

As if they are going to spend all that money on the stadium! That money was to re-finance the club, pay off debts, provide a transfer fund and build the stadium

I suppose they should stop entering the Champions League too as it's not worth winning anymore stpid stpid stpid

Jeez!

What chance does the pitch have in that place? Top tip for stadium designers................ grass needs natural light.

They can enter it as often as they want jish. I fact they have helped to manufacture a situation where they are practically guaranteed entry every season. And of course it is worth winning. Financially. But as a football competition, and particularly in comparison with the old European Cup that it replaced, it is a bag of bollocks.

True, but they won it plenty of times when it was an outright competition and you had to win the league to qualify for it. Fair play to them I say.

As sad as it is, top flight football is just a money pit, which really should make us all appreciate Pools that little bit more and the fact that we have players on a relative moderate wage.

Can you imagine the Mill House on the back of a Pools player who was on £90,000 a week and not pulling their weight? It doesn't bear thinking about.

If we ever became a team that was paying 90 grand a week, I would have long since stopped supporting them.

Without sounding nasty, I don't understand this attitude at all and a lot of people seem to have it on this and other boards.

I will support Pools as long as I have a hole in my @rse, regardless of the situation. I also like watching football, be it Premiership, Bundesliga or Blue Square premier.

Because to be in a situation that involves us paying one player 90 grand a week, would also need to involve us in playing in a huge stadium, in the Premiership. We would be half a mile away from the pitch, and effectively thousands of miles away from the players. I feel a part of our club, I can't see how I could ever feel a part of a Manure/Arsenal/Newcastle style of club.

quite right too Mr B
the only big stadium i have seen pools play was Sunderland and it was bloody awful up in the gods as it were
loved the big crowd atmosphere that the pools visit generated as most of the mackems hoped we would win to get shot of some body or other

I'm not even slightly @ased about the stadium design. I wish Pools had the priveledged position that the top teams have in that they have the money and the fanbase to succeed.

I would like Pools to actually win something. Is that not what supporting a team is all about?

I know there's a romantic notion about supporting a lower league team and being close to the pitch and the whole tight knit atmosphere of it all and I love that about supporting Hartlepool United. I really do, but if there's no ambition and we're all just happy having 4000 crowds week in week out and getting nothing from referees coz "it's only Hartlepool" is the best we can ever hope for, then that depresses me.

I know it'll never happen, but i'd like Pools to win every competition ever entered and that will always be the aim in my eyes.

If a town this small has a club that is the only one in its country never to have been relegated and has sat comfotably in the top division for nearly 30 years, picking up the odd trophy here and there and even causing upsets in Europe, why can't we, a town more than twice that size, aspire to similar success?
