No honest its true. You wouldn't find one voice on this board saying that he's crap or lazy or disliked. It's just that his level as he showed last year is firing lots of goals in division four. He's a tad too slow for this league.

But we love him anyway. Not to Danny Wilson levels obviously but we love him nevertheless.

The whole point is surely that it's useless bleating on about the front end of the team when it's the arse end that's leaking.

I know you all love the numbers so here's some:

The only clubs who have more league goals than us are Forest, Swansea, Southend and Leeds. Guess where they are?? Yes.

The only teams that have conceded more than we have are Bournemouth, Port Vale, Crewe and Huddersfield. Again guess where they are??

We need to shut the door.

So when Wilson brings in defenders to try and stop the leaks, what happens?? Youse all bleat on about needing better strikers. No we don't. We need to stop the goals going past us.

We got four last night and you're all droning on about Barker. It's the other end you should be looking at.

Dolts.

Mr PK- Godwin Antwi is a liability in defence. If Clarky is gonna be missing for any period of time we need a new centre half either permanently or on loan.

The guy in goal last night actually looked like a proper keeper who given a run of games could turn out to be a gem.

Nelson is having his worst season since he signed for us. Is it a coincidence that he's spent a large part of it beside Antwi?

McCunnie will be solid again when his fitness gets back up.

Humphreys didn't have a great game at left back last night but we know he can be and will be solid enough there more often than not if needs be.

So yes, I agree, we need to sign a proper left back and a solid centre half, preferably a nice experienced talker and organiser.

Although I do think that I've mentioned this elsewhere, Dolt.

PS. If you're feeling down and fancy a laugh, imagine Godwin Antwi trying to defend against Man U. rolfl

He gave his all. And had a never say die attitude that deserves credit.

But he is just 2 yards short of everyone else.

I concur.

I do agree that last nught Antwi was down right awful.
Nelson has gone from a lion to a puppy. Shave the head again it could be the issue!!!!

I slagged Thompson off yesterday when he signed but a couple of more matches he could do a job for us, He clearly is short of match fitness but he seems to have lost loads of weight since boxing day...

The reult flattered the match last night but 3 points is three points and a win should give us a bit more confidence if we can sort out the defence...

Surely there's something as well about pressure, and how you relieve it. Going back a few years we had an extremely good back three (Barron in between Lee and Strodder/Westie) but still conceded goals, partly because when the ball was cleared it invariably came straight back again. We solved that by signing Tinkler, who broke up attacks in midfield and provided a closer option for a pass out from the back rather than a long hoof.

The long hoof is needed sometimes, but if that ends up as a regular thing then you end up putting pressure back on as at least as often as not the opposition pick up the ball and are soon looking forward again. Players may not have had time to get back into position, opponents may still be in forward positions, and here comes another ball to defend against. With Barker there, the long hoof gets used more and no matter how good he is we will end up having to defend more - which means more opportunity for errors too. If we stop going long, play the ball out from the back, then we build more effective attacks and holding possession gives players more chance to get back to where they should be - the opposition as well as us.

This is not a dig at Barker. It's a dig at the way we tend to play if Barker (or any big man) is up front. I'm not even convinced it's how Wilson wants them to play, however it's happening and I don't think it's doing the defenders much good either. OK they could do better (and Elliott in particular) but the whole team and pattern of play is part of this.....

Hang on if Alby says we hump it every time and you say we can't hump it clear, where exactly do we hump it to? I think you might be onto something here - tell Wilson quick!

I think it depends on who we play, for teams we play against have big slow defenders no, I would rather two little whippets to knock it past them and run. but against teams like Southend like last night, he can be very effective and be a nuisance he drew 2 defenders to him most of the time leaving space for browny and Joel to run into. He played well in my eyes, but I probably had my rose tinteds on

No do not like R. Barker playing from the start.

Take him out and with no big man to aim for we have to play football.
for the defenders is an easy out ball.

Barker coming on with 20mins to go when we are leading, some one who can hold the ball up
and kill the game off.

He is top scorer but take away the penalties then how many as he got.

A big problem also with Richie is that Wilson will not take him off. Last night he ran himself into the ground any one could see he was knackered but he stays on WHY?????

It really doesn't matter. You cloth eared get....

Scoring goals, which, whether you like it or not, is not the problem.

The problem is with the defence. Barker is not a defender.  Honest. Even though he runs back for corners, throw ins and stuff.

We score like a top four team and we concede like a bottom four team.

Now which problem do we need to address........ sctatchinghead sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

Jesus.....

that does in fact sum up the season.
I'm worried by how many chances Doncaster will create next week.
Hands up who is afraid we'll have to score three just to get a point?

Fookin' bingo Mr Parmo.

Now can you run up Clavering and leather that daft get who STILL wants to castigate Barker for being leading scorer??

Whine, moan, whimper....we need a 20 goal a season man.......

So what's Barker then??

its even worse than that though.

Barker doesnt stay up front. He is back defending at every turn.

Every corner and Free kick Barker is back. Therefore we cant even hump it clear.

but if barker stays up that would encumber one of there or possibly two defenders
now that would be silly would it not
sarfend were very good at moving forward en masse
in attack everyone moved up and in defence the whole mid field and fullbacks all moved well as a unit and it was well practised
i still say despite the score it was papering over the cracks

As much as I like the bloke....NO....I'd bring him on 15/20 mins to go depending how the game is going etc!!!! confised confised

He was cushty last season but this Division is much much different to Darlodale's Division!!!! confised confised

And yes I do realise he's still go a few goals for Pools this season etc etc!!!!

But it is still the Defence that needs sorting!!!!

That is my opinion!!!!

My opinion's changing of him. He needed the break he did and I think he's much more effective as a sub as the rest of the players are tired, so pace is not an issue.

I like the bloke and he tries hard, but we need another reliable striker. With Moore gone, Porter still iffy (not shown his full potential yet, if he's still got it) and Mackay not getting games for one reason or another, we could do with one more to fall back on.

It's completely true though. Our defence is shocking. We can't keep a clean sheet and they just seem to... stand around and do nothing. Carlisle took the piss and Southend did last night. We can't defend on the counter (see Cheltenham's second goal) and they argue amongst themselves.

You'd think they'd learn from the angry screaming from the Town End most of the time, particularly that Cheltenham game. The place was seething after the first half.

EDIT: and just because we have the most goals doesn't mean too much, we've also had the most penalties if I'm not mistaken? And we actually score them this season
