... been staring us in the face all the time, we don't have a team as such, we appear to have a bunch of footballing 'contractors' who get well paid to 'do a job'. With one or two exceptions, that's all it boils down to now, no passion, just a bunch of anonoymous 'technicians' who do their job and move on to the next contract when the time comes. What's killing the game and breaking the will of many a loyal supporter, is the bland, banal,. slapdash excuse for football served up with a couldn't give a toss attitude.

but Mr snowman we pay a manager to get these people playing football
after all who signed the majority of those on show on Friday night?
some managers tend to find a level and cease being effective
without looking at Mr Wilson's record i would suspect he has found his level
and the first thing a manager would say is heads will roll
if any of you aficionados out there can tell me what system we were trying to play it might just shed some light on the situation for me
we were never a hoof it team yet we are now i would suggest if Mr Wilson who has a predilection for not having a goal keeper on the bench at home games should dispense with the mid field too as we by pass it time after time

That description covers the lot in my opinion, so we are in total agreement.

I've mentioned this on another thread (though obviously not as eloquently) and I am also of the opinion that players' collective greed and lack of loyalty is killing the game for me.
I have little interest in anything above our division (other than how teams like Colchester and Scunthorpe are doing), but when you do read about the likes of Berbatov wanting out of Tottenham despite being on daft grands amount of money per week, it really hits home how little integrity there is left in today's game. Why can't a bunch of players in any given club agree to stick together no matter what, and actually want to win something with the team they are at? They already earn enough money. That's how Forest's players succeeded all those years ago, by staying at the club and making their names as winners, before clinching lucrative transfers later in their careers.
Too many players are in the game for the wrong reasons - what happened to the spirit of players like Bobby Moore? Now he was an example of a model pro player who was also the best in the business.

I can really see me packing it in within five years or so, even Pools, and I never thought I'd say that.

Another thing Parmo, is the lack of respect I have for these so called players across the board, people who'd probably be on a 'restart course' if it wasn't for their 'talent'.... have even got me despising the England team.
Match of the Day and programmes such as this are a complete turn off and the situation up at Newcastle is beyond parody.. a team which 'won nothing for a brief period' is hailed by it's frenzied dim camp followers as returning to a 'golden period' ......of what, ....wishful thinking...? It dominates the news and for what for Christs sake, it's only footy at the end of the day.....
My interest now is solely Pools, Over the years I've even walked the poor little buggers there with me on a Boxing Day and found the money to pay the four of us in,...yet now I can do this in comfort I suddenly find that the game I loved has recently moved away from me and it's all down to attitude..... what was something to look forward to has suddenly after all these years become as inviting as a trip to Tesco............ WHY? sctatchinghead

that 'lovely lovely person' Savage who signed for Derby recently did a hilarious joke thing for the cameras after his press conferance....sauntered along pretending to be the coolest motherfucker on Gods earth, walked upto a car [a car which I might add was 100 times better than any car I've ever owned] and pretended to unlock it as if it was his, of course driving a shitty little motor like that is beneath such a Deity like Savage....obviously he then went to his big flash motor made some hilarious jape about not being seen dead in shite like that and the cameramen and his hangers on pissed thereselves laughing

not in touch with reality these men, wants a good kicking that savage

I've just read a book called "my father and other working class footballing heroes". Its about a footballer called stuart imlach who was the man of the match in the 59 cup final and played in the 58 world cup for Scotland. The difference in footballers then and now is highlighted by the fact that throughout his whole career he worked every season break as a Joiner.
Now he was a top player, can you ever in a million years imagine even our third class reserves doing that?
Superb book by the way.
