Me and our lass are going on her antenatal class today. They're supposed to be a right laugh.

One of my mates went on one, and said on some of the excercises they do, a lot of the women will break wind involuntarily. Can't wait!

they are so dull and not even worth the waste of time

it will be you and no one else like you

an older couple

4 or 5 teenagers (normally very ugly fat tracksuited teenagers)

a girl on her own with a friend

and a lesbian couple

and at least one of them is having selective cesarian

(well they were in hartlepool)

Nowt like that Katcha I'm pleased to say.

All couples around the same age as us, a couple of them a bit weird but most of them 'normal'.

Midwife hosting it had a good sense of humour.

We got to do a role play where the blokes played hospital staff delivering a baby (out of a man wearing a pink birth gown). Very funny stuff.

I think they must have different classes for younger parents to be, I don't think any of the women there were under 25. They might have special ones for lesbians as well!

Unfortunately there was no involuntary breaking of wind to report on. Apart from that it was ace.

Still sounds a shite way to pass time really - all very 'some mothers do ave em'esque

despised 'our' classes with a passion

I went once when she expecting sprog1, never again esp with sprog2

what got me was all the do-goodie types and the gadgies behaving like spineless pricks and the hippy types and the softly softly approach

wank, in fact wanking is a much better way to pass the time
and it'll prevent any more unwanted trips to ante natal clases

Ours were slightly hysterical at times, we had issues with the scheduling though - such as they left it so late that the baby had arrived before the last two.....

There were a couple of sets of parents that were a bit like us and we got on with OK, but then it was a case of looking at people and thinking up the story..... one looked like a quietish sort of girl that had got caught out and wasn't quite sure what to do (no partner in sight at all), but the one that really sticks in my mind is the one I nicknamed "Epidural Girl". She seemed to be treating pregnancy as an opportunity to wear lots of fashionable maternity wear, and you just knew that the kid would be treated as akin to a fashion accessory when it arrived - you know what I mean, clothes to match mum's, and no doubt a selection of co-ordinating covers for the car seat and buggy depending on what she thought would go with her outfit. She came the first week with her mum, who looked like the prototype. I was astonished when the next time she arrived with a man in tow who was indeed the child's father! The nickname came about because when the discussion started about pain relief options, she was adamant that she wanted an epidural, and the impression given was that she wanted one NOW, even though there were still about 4 months to go. I was devastated when she wasn't there on the occasion that an epidural needle was shown to us, as I wanted to see her face when confronted by a long, thick needle...

Happy to say there was none of that.

Can't disagree with that like!

Sounds like we were lucky. We had the chance to do three classes or one all dayer. the seperate classes would have meant missing Pools so all dayer it was. If we have another I don't think there's a need to go again.
