Financial reasons as much as anything but I also want to look after my temple of a body in 2008 and thought this month would be a great chance to kick me off.

I'm driving down south straight after the game on Friday so wouldn't have been drinking anyway.

I have January off the drink every year. It's hard but worth doing. You sleep loads better, you're more alert, have more energy, complexion improves, bags under the eyes go, lose a bit of weight, save a few bob, and gives the liver a well earned rest.

I normally drink 4 nights a week, one or two bottles of beer and sometimes an odd whisky in the house three nights, then one night in the pub where I like to have 5 or 6 pints and a whisky or two at least (usually Saturday).

The most I've had in one session was on a stag do in Cork, about 15 pints of Guiness plus a couple of whiskies.

What I really miss are afternoon sessions. I used to have one every Saturday when not watching Pools. I very rarely do them now unless I go to a beer festival.

I had a martini and a gin on tues night

anyways, I do eat ok! rarely have full englishes, rarely have takeaways and make meals with loads of veg/fresh produce etc...just cos you're shite at cooking!! :wink:
