Bournemouth have served notice to appoint an administrator, but stress such a scenario is 'not a foregone conclusion'.

Reports suggest the financially-stricken League One side could enter administration next Monday, which would lead to a 10-point penalty.

The Cherries released a statement confirming the latest move, with chairman Jeff Mostyn unhappy with the club's creditors.

"The directors of AFC Bournemouth Football Club have lodged a notice of intention to appoint an administrator," read a club statement.

"BDO Stoy Hayward is currently dealing with the directors of AFC Bournemouth in an advisory capacity only. At this stage there has been no formal appointment of administrators.

"The chairman Jeff Mostyn commented that this action was taken to prevent our current negotiations being frustrated by aggressive and unhelpful creditors.

"We were professionally advised to serve a notice of intention to appoint an administrator which we have done.

"However, the chairman stressed that the club is not in administration and it is not a foregone conclusion that it will be."

This is happening far to often to lower league clubs. The FA need to start doing something to help the lower league clubs rather than making sure all the money goes to the Premier League. refred

"yeh no problem mate forget about it".
Football doesn't pay, even the prem clubs are losing a fortune just look at west ham and spurs figures this week.there but for the grace of IOR go pools.

Sorry but they get no sympathy from me, teams should find their level and stick to what they can afford, financial mis-management is most lower league clubs problem. they try and buy success and hope that they get the exra money from more supporters or more tv money for being in a higher league etc. Lets face it if we didnt have IOR bankrolling us we would probably be no better than a top half league 2 team.

This is not right. It's the clubs ABOVE us who should be getting points docked!

Pools surely can't get relegated this season if B/mouth go into admin as well as Luton, considering how shit Port Vale, Northampton, Cheltenham etc are???

Ermm... IOR are bankrolling us to the tune of millions. Without them our level would be bottom half of Div 4 or somewhere in the conference.

Cash-strapped Bournemouth have confirmed that their notice of intention to appoint an administrator has been accepted by the court.

It has been reported the League One club are £4million in debt, but will now receive a period of protection from their creditors.

This will enable the club's board to assess their financial position, although it is a development that Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn insists does not necessarily mean the club will go into administration.

Club statement
"Following last week's announcement Cherries chairman Jeff Mostyn has confirmed that a further notice of intention to appoint an administrator has been accepted by the court.

"The chairman emphasised that this will allow the club a further period of time in which to bring our current negotiations to what we all hope will be a satisfactory conclusion in terms of securing the future of the football club.

"The club remains outside of administration and it is not a foregone conclusion that it will go down that route."
