anyone who has been before know what parking at their ground is like - many spaces or need to get there really early?

in two minds about getting the train or driving - six and two threes in terms of time it'll take but don't think the station is that close to the ground...

The station isn't that close to the ground. There's absolutely loads of parking around the ground and I can't see there being many there so driving would your best option IMO.

Big car park opposite the ground, but a bit of a nighmare to get off, only pub allowing away fans was TGI Fridays (also opposite ground) but beware you need a large wallet for the price of the drinks

Like Kiansmom said there is a massive car park by the ground, specifically for the ground. I've always parked there ok when turning up about 45 minutes before kick off. The down side is getting out of the car park along with 1000's of others all at the same time. The up side is you don't have to trek miles to and from the car.
Unfortunately I won't be going this year as we've got a gig in Brighton.

Dead easy to get to off the M1, very well signposted.

Take a good book to read after the game, as it takes hours to get out of the car park. Several hundred spaces all exiting through one road. Exactly the same as the Rushden set up. Which is also in Northants strangely enough.

I'd rather drink beer and watch us get beat on teletext instead of in real life. It's cheaper.

Parmo, I have read a number of similar responses recently where clearly you are disillusioned with pools at the mo, but surely going to away games is about the day out, not just the match, particularly if you are travelling several hours to get there?

aye, but if it means driving to get there - sod that!!!!! I enjoy my train trips to be honest, and Northampton is too much of a fart on by train.
I'm looking at Brighton and Bournemouth as good potential weekends away, maybe Bristol. I reckon Walsall will be a go-er based on the fact it's the last game of the season, but somewhere along the line I would also like to think the team will at least look like they are capable of getting a result on their travels.

fair enough. Train journeys are 'the dogs' and fortunately, Northampton is only an hour out of Euston for us 'london' poolies. I have just been surprised at how 'anti' away games you have been over the last few months considering the number of trips you have made over the decades........

That said, I don't have to put up with the performances week in, week out and maybe I would be a little more cynical if I had to!

Brighton is defo a great day out if you haven't been before. Don't believe all this homophoebic bollox.

I can well understand Parmo's point - if you're driving and can't drink then it does tend to take a lot of the gloss off going to an away game.

I mean what sort of buffoon would go to an away game and not drink?!
