To make the rest of the teams in the country (and Scotland) feel better about themselves.

Why do Newcastle fans always take their tops off at away matches? Are they all fukking dickheads or something?

I was gutted when Jon Parkin missed the sitter in the second half......

That highlights the problem they have in a nutshell.... because they have a big ground and big following, the fans think that they should be a top club - however the reality is no serious trophy in nigh on 40 years, and few managers seem to be given long enough to change that. Big support doesn't automatically mean success, Man Utd went a long time between league titles and won the odd FA Cup despite being a hugely supported club until Ferguson got the chance to build a team. Over the same period the Mags actually spent a long period in the old Div2 during which about 40K of the current support were conspicuous by their absence.... unless and until they get a decent manager in and say to him "you've got 5 years to turn us round" they'll bump along at the current level - the problem is that the fans won't say that, they'll expect top 6 or the sack in year 1. The expectation is just way too high.

I remember in the early 90's when Ossie Ardiles was manager the old fella took me along to Sid James's for a league game against Port Vale (It's alright the Pools game was off!) it was shite and played in front of a Boro 'esque crowd of 11,000. They all jumped on the Keegan bandwagon and have been rewarded with fook all for it rolfl

We are extremely fortunate that we don't support Premiership football, I mean what have the likes of the skunks got to look forward to? Finishing between 5th-16th and staying in cup competitions until you draw one of the 'big four' add to that you are paying 50 snots a ticket for the pleasure.... hadaway and bollocks pet!

i agree its boring unless its a team fighting for survival or a team you know are going to finish top 4 whats the point, but every other league you dont know whats going to happen and theres 10 places where you could move up or down a division instead of 3.

I have to say that it was a lucky day for Pools when the skunks didn't win the premier league that year, 'cos I'd bet that Pools might have had to go part time through lack of supporters. Every c**t in the town was walking round in a barcode shirt, kids playing on school fields wearing them, I thought I had gone to hell before I'd even died. Pools were getting crowds of barely more than 1,200 - a night game against Fulham there was only 1,021 there!!!!
I remember the skunks getting beat off Boro in a League Cup match which was being shown live on the telly in the Sports Bar, and I almost got lynched for laughing at them!!!! The sad c***ts!!! violin
I reckon the barcodes' failure to win anything has caused them all to go scurrying cockroach-style back under thier rocks, and the potential skunks have become Poolies, including a fair percentage of the most recent generation of kids in the area.
I haven't gone to hell after all - not until I die, anyways!!!!

The worst sight I ever seen was my wifes brother & his girlfriend walking through the town centre holding hands & wearing matching barcode shirts.I dived into Dorothy Perkins & lost myself among the clothes to avoid the embarrassment of them speaking to me

I would rather go into the underwear section of Dorothy Perkins and try on some bras rather than talk to a couple of approaching pantomime mags.
By the way, the frilly blue ones are rather fetching.

EEeeee....I remember been in the Travellers about 2 years ago....(I think I've told this story before on here but I'll tell it again for the newcomers!!!! )....

Me and our lass walked in and I realised that there was a fair few people with mags shirts on!!!!
Then realised that they were on Sky but the match hadn't kicked off yet!!!! confised
Anyways....4 lads sat round a table right at the front....they must have got to the pub early to get the front seats  ....in front of the screen....3 wearing Mags shirts, one wearing a Pools shirt!!!! :sweeeet:

The match kicks off and after about 10 minutes I go to the table and ask where the toilets are....

Mag shirt....'Over there mate'!!!!

Me....'Oh cheers....the thing that gets me is this....you know where the toilets are but you obviously don't know where St.James Park is....sitting in here in Hartlepool with your shit shirt on....I bet you haven't even been to St.James park....give your head a shake and wear a decent shirt like you mate'!!!!

His mate in the Pools shirt was actually sniggering to himself!!!! clappp clappp

I went and told our lass what had happened and she went mad with me and said....

'You know....I can't take you know where'!!!! confised confised

Parmo, you have summed up perfectly just why I wish nothing but failure on the so called big three.... it really would hit us hard if any of them won anything of any importance on a regular basis ....!
