I think it's as blueman said. There were at one time a lot of posts about how Rivals was a total mess, and how its posters were 'idiots' etc. Most of us are already struggling with self-esteem (not you, MR Ripper ), so when we hear that sort of thing we tend to react.
I'm sure that when some people say the Bunker is 'cliquey', what they really mean is that they don't feel part of it. But they should come in, if they want to, and join the, erm, fun.

What gets me is people like Yloop, who has really taken some stick from some bunkerites, and has every reason to feel aggrieved, have this weekend been defending us. I like Yloop, and can honestly say I always have

It's a long while since I joined. I like to read this board and other boards. I notice that the rivals feller superwatty has taken umbridge at being accused by pooliekev of referring to his wife as slant eyes.Kev is quite adamant that those words were used. Superwatty is quite adamant that they weren't. I have looked at the threads from that time and there were two seperate references. In one Superwatty referred to China as slantyeyeland. Superwatty defends himself by saying that he didn't mean to be racist and subsequently apologised to anyone who may be offended. The other reference is that Superwatty said to Pooliekev tell your rass to put the kettle on. These references are as exact as I have stated them. Superwatty defends this use of our rass as the only reference he has to the wife of Pooliekev.
Pooliekev then states that slant eyes was used. I cannot find any reference to Superwatty using those words to describe Mrs Pooliekev. In that respect I think Pooliekev should produce evidence of Superwatty using that term or withdraw the accusation. In my opinion (for what it's worth) calling Mrs Pooliekev our rass is not insulting. Indeed others have done so and have not been taken to task on it.
On the subject of why there appears to be a bit of friction between this site and the rivals site I think Grabec has touched on the answer. The members of this site have not been too complimentary in the past and a bit of retaliation is taking place. Speaking of Grabec , I notice that Superwatty is complaining that she mis quoted him earlier in the thread , which she has acknowledged. I think that Grabec in any other circumstance would apologise for that error , so why not now.
Superwatty is being accused of insulting members of this site and that accusation is accurate.
Members of this site have also insulted him. We can't have our cake and eat it here.
Nobody likes to be falsely accused , abused or insulted. both parties have some guilt here. If the members of this site took it upon themselves to view things a bit more fairly , then I think Mr Ripper's concerns about image would be allayed. I have often thought this site to be pompous and arrogant but have usually dismissed the idea , until today. This is my take on this problem and I hope you will receive it in the manner in which it is intended.
There that is that. I might post again , but I'm often worried that girls are not often well received when they have opinions on football , although I'm sure you are all gentlemen really.

If you are able to put across your points regarding football or general day to day chit chat as eloquently as you just did with a subject which you knew some people would take umbridge with then you should post much more often.

I think MadJohn hit the nail on the head. I have been reading Rivals since way back when it was ITN and it did go steadily downhill with some of the comments and multiple usernames from Darlo fans being the Nadir. (understandable given some of the tripe posted on their board by Poolies). The Darlo fans who infrequently come on here have never sunk to the levels reached at one point on Rivals. Even Sarf who was a valued contributor to this board and (although I never met him) seems to be a good bloke got involved.
I can understand the stance some on Rivals now take against The Bunker but as stated before we are all Poolies and we have more important things to worry about at the moment.
I disagree with your take on the PoolieKev/Superwatty thing although I wouldn't take umbridge at a well reasoned argument. I can see no need for him to even mention Kev's wife and after calling China "Slantyeyeland" (for which he did apologise) it was unwise to use the term "your rass" in the context it was used. I know others have used it, but they know PoolieKev so he knows it is done affectionately.

A line should be drawn under this whole episode. I would apologise to Superwatty if I could remember my Rivals log-in! However I'm not sure some of the other posters on the board would allow that to be it judging by the reaction MadJohn got with what I thought was a reasoned reply to Wattys original complaint.

Much of your post, I agree with. However, things become complicated. The members of the Bunker who, as you say, have insulted Rivals are not the people (with one exception) whom Mr Superwatty and his friends are attacking this week-end. This week-end's attacks have been quite gratuitous as far as I can see.
I think Mr Superwatty has used totally unacceptable language and aggression to speak to people who were merely trying to communicate with him. He is in no position to request an apology for my mistake in attribution, since the things he did say were so much worse than the statement I attributed to him.

The way I see it is that it's all just the internet. Some of the attitudes about each board have been quite poor when, at the end of the day, we're all Pools fans with the same common goal in mind: supporting our team (and its manager )

Superwatty doesn't want to have any of this and seems intent on making a public show of every issue that's been brought up, the stuff with Kev had been put to bed ages ago yet re-surfaces from time to time whenever the Bunker is mentioned on Rivals. I even told him to mail the admin on here if he thought he was being treated unfairly but he seemed to think it would be more fun to have public outbursts.

The post earlier in this thread is right, he is our version of hutchy and should just be ignored.

Thank you for reading my piece , but inaccuracies are still being put forward. Yloop has just indicated that this stuff with Kev , as he put it , was resurrected by Superwatty. It most certainly was not. The first reference to slant eyes was made by Pooliekev on Jan 05 at 11 13 am. Superwatty posted his objection at 15 23 on the same day. So the resurrecting was done by Pooliekev. I'm sorry to keep correcting you people , but you are creating a victim here. You should stick to the facts. It is obvious you do not like Superwatty but do you really want to mend the obvious rift between the bunker and rivals because false statements and inaccurate quoting of people is never going to do that? Come on Guys and Gals to get treat reasonably you need to act reasonably. Anyway that is my last word on the matter because I'm beginning to think my attempts at solving it are not going to bear fruit. Once again thank you for listening.

You talk about me as if I am defending Kev when in fact I know neither poster well enough to make a decision on defence. There is no rift between the bunker and rivals. As grabec has stated I have made posts that have appeared on here and people weren't happy. That's their opinion but it doesn't mean anything against the rivals board. It's the same in this situation. There are one or two posters on here and one or two posters on rivals that have personal problems with eachother.

Your penultimate comment about "solving it" - There is nothing to solve. If watty wants to continue a one sided argument on rivals then so be it. If he feels he has been aggrieved then i'm sure he can talk to admin on here or register. I had a point of view to put across so registered.

And finally, about it being obvious people don't like superwatty? Perhaps if he grew up a bit and talked to people like an adult might he might have people talk to him in a similar manner. Personally I couldn't give a flying fart what Superwatty thinks or says unless he's making derogatory references to our rass, there I've said it again, her appearance and her culture. I can call her what I want, Jesus have you read the newspaper columns on Valentines Day?? People call their wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, lovers etc all sorts of horrible things but that doesn't mean anyone can. I didn't make him say it, he said it and I objected, that's cause and effect in my book and a valid criticism. Also it isn't me who perpetuated the argument, I asked their Admin, in public, if they were happy to tolerate racism. Oh Dear, Mr I - sexism and ageism all in one sentence. I didnt realise when I posted that this board was so politically correct - you know one token female, one token exile etc.. I am afraid I qualify on both these points. My apologies to Grabec I did not realise she was the 'only female in the village' and to get around the fact that some people actually liked my post I had to become male. I must also put my hands up to never having lived in Hartlepool. I have always supported a 'Pool - I grew up standing on The Kop during the heyday of the late 1970's, however having grown disillusioned with Premiership football, when someone invited me to watch Pools play Plymouth Argyll a few years ago I was so impressed with the professionalism and respect I experienced in that one match I decided they were the team for me and have supported them ever since. I am now a season ticket holder and apart from not being able to attend mid week matches for work commitments I make a 250 mile round trip to watch matches on Saturdays. And God yes! I AM FEMALE, heaven forbid I should be allowed to go to matches on my own! I didn't realise only men could do this, perhaps it is an example of 'northeastern' thinking - no racism intended, but it might surprise you to know that women can actually think for themselves - they even have the vote you know! There are two very good reasons I can prove I am not male, and they are, for your information 38DD. However in the words of another female - 'am I bovvered?'
