I want to buy an MP3 player (not an ipod) so I'm after recommendations please. I don't want it to listen to via headphones, but a speaker dock.

I don't want to spend more than £150 for the player and dock, and I can't be doing with any convoluted way of loading tracks onto it. WMA as well as MP3 compatability is needed too.

I would have been happy with my 78s but the grammophone packed in over Christmas.

I know a few people who have them and they said they are overpriced, annoying to load tracks onto, but look nice.

I'd have to argue with that personally, although I've never owned any other to compare it to.I'm completely not technical and find the ipod very easy to load tracks onto and with a decent docking stereo the sounds good.I've also just got an itrip gadget which plays it through the car stereo as well. doesn't play me old records though!

Can't understand why people seem to avoid the iPod just because it's an iPod. We all have one in our house including one new Touch which is the nicest gadget I have ever laid eyes on - but too low on memory for me personally. I use a Logitech MM50 speaker dock which is being sold off cheap these days and it is really good. Altec lansing docks are also excellent imo.

Thing about iPods is that peripherals are everywhere - another plus.

Loading music for me is dead easy but I don't go looking for illegal downloads and stuff which may be a problem. I never leave the house without the iPod and the Kensington charger/transmitter works a treat in the car (although I can't make owt of it in London - too many competing for the airwaves).
