Newton was jailed for nine months in 1979 at Teesside Crown Court after crashing the car he was driving and killing his Pools team mate David Wiggett, who was a passenger.

Killing someone while being under the influence of alcohol and then only getting 9 months is a fooking disgrace. rage

To be fair things have changed (and it has to be said for the better) in 28 years. I doubt he'd get 9 months now. 10 years earlier he'd probably have got even less.

Something that is often overlooked is the responsability of the passenger, if someone is pissed then you really shouldn't be getting in the car with them in the first place.

If the passenger is pissed, how would they know the driver was? FACT IS, IT'S THE DRIVERS SOLE RESPONSIBILITY... THERE'S NO EXCUSE.
