Following on from Sussex's comment about fruit salads and black jacks (illegal now), what was your favoured choice from the penny tray?

I was in a newsagent the other week and found them selling 'fish and chips', you know the white chocolate style, delicious.

Flumps were always a favourite too, as were rhubard & custard, strawberry bons bons, kola cubes, pomfret cakes, shrimps, banana shrimps (if you know what I mean) but curly wurlies were the 'dogs' :grin:

Just remembered.................... flying saucers. Fantastic things! you'll lose your teeth but they tasted great, rice paper filled with kay lie. *no idea how to spell that word)

Candy ciggarettes, you used to get a big bag of broken and misshapes for next to nothing from the sweet shop in the market

It was irony. I was suggesting that now they might be called 'sweets of an alternative heritage' or 'ethnic jacks'

I always thought they had a soapy taste, didn't like them at all......

When i was skint I used to get Rainbow Crystals or Choc Lick, I stopped eating liqurice and M&Ms because there was a rumour that they contained beatle's blood. Rubble gum was quality as were Jaw Breakers........
