Can you post one or two of your better songs than Morrissey on here? I like songs and poems

Well, that's quite.....it's very good.
But I would scrub the bit about peppermint creams, and just make a poem of your first three lines. Then it would be bursting with, erm, existentialist irony

Well, that's not very self-promoting, is it? Morrissey never says, I haven't the foggiest, look me up on myspace, does he?
Can you just put the words on here then?

But, OK, tell me what to look up and I'll get our kid to do it. I've never been on myspace in me life.

Pretty Girls Make Graves

Upon the sand, upon the bay
"There is a quick and easy way" you say
Before you illustrate
I'd rather state :
"I'm not the man you think I am
I'm not the man you think I am"

And Sorrow's native son
He will not smile for anyone

And Pretty Girls Make Graves

End of the pier, end of the bay
You tug my arm, and say : "Give in to lust,
Give up to lust, oh heaven knows we'll
Soon be dust ... "

Oh, I'm not the man you think I am
I'm not the man you think I am

And Sorrow's native son
He will not rise for anyone

And Pretty Girls Make Graves
Oh really ?

I could have been wild and I could have
Been free
But Nature played this trick on me

She wants it Now
And she will not wait
But she's too rough
And I'm too delicate

Then, on the sand
Another man, he takes her hand
A smile lights up her stupid face
(and well, it would)

I lost my faith in Womanhood

Back to the Old House

I would rather not go
Back to the old house
I would rather not go
Back to the old house
There's too many
Bad memories
Too many memories
There ...

When you cycled by
Here began all my dreams
The saddest thing i've ever seen
And you never knew
How much i really liked you
Because i never even told you
Oh, and i meant to

Are you still there ?
Or have you moved away ?

I would love to go
Back to the old house
But i never will
I never will

The Hand that Rocks the Cradle

Please dont cry
For the ghost and the storm outside
Will not invade this sacred shrine
Nor infiltrate your mind
My life down I shall lie
If the bogey-man should try
To play tricks on your sacred mind
To tease, torment, and tantalise
Wavering shadows loom
A piano plays in an empty room
Therell be blood on the cleaver tonight
And when darknesss lifts and the room is bright
Ill still be by your side
For you are all that matters
And Ill love you to till the day I die
There never need be longing in your eyes
As long as the hand that rocks the cradle is mine
Ceiling shadows shimmy by
And when the wardrobe towers like a beast of prey
Theres sadness in your beautiful eyes
Oh, your untouched, unsoiled, wonderous eyes
My life down I shall lie
Should restless spirits try
To play tricks on your sacred mind
I once had a child, and it saved my life
And I never even asked his name
I just looked into his wondrous eyes
And said : never never never again
And all too soon I did return
Just like a moth to a flame
So rattle my bones all over the stones
Im only a beggar-man whom nobody owns
Oh, see how words as old as sin
Fit me like a glove
Im here and here Ill stay
Together we lie, together we pray
There never need be longing in your eyes
As long as the hand that rocks the cradle is mine
As long as the hand that rocks the cradle is mine
Mine
Climb up on my knee, sonny boy
Although youre only three, sonny boy
Youre - youre mine
And your mother she just never knew
Oh, your mother

I did my best for her

Sweet and Tender Hooligan

He was a sweet and tender hooligan, hooligan
And he said that he'd never, never do it again
And of course he won't (oh, not until the next time)

He was a sweet and tender hooligan, hooligan
And he swore that he'll never, never do it again
And of course he won't (oh, not until the next time)

Poor old man
He had an accident with a three-bar fire
But thats ok
Because he wasnt very happy anyway
Poor woman
Strangled in her very own bed as she read
But thats ok
Because she was old and she would have died anyway

Don't blame the sweet and tender hooligan, hooligan
Because he'll never, never, never, never, never, never do it again
(not until the next time)

Jury, youve heard every word
So before you decide
Would you look into those mother me eyes
I love you for you, my love, you my love
You my love, you my love
Jury, youve heard every word
But before you decide
Would you look into those mother me eyes
I love you for you my love, you my love
I love you just for you, my love

Don't blame the sweet and tender hooligan, hooligan
Because he'll never, never do it again
And ...
In the midst of life we are in death etc.
Dont forget the hooligan, hooligan
Because hell never, never do it again
And ...
In the midst of life we are in death etc.

Suffer Little Children

Over the moor, take me to the moor
Dig a shallow grave
And I'll lay me down

Over the moor, take me to the moor
Dig a shallow grave
And I'll lay me down

Lesley-Anne, with your pretty white beads
Oh John, you'll never be a man
And you'll never see your home again
Oh Manchester, so much to answer for

Edward, see those alluring lights ?
Tonight will be your very last night

A woman said : "I know my son is dead
I'll never rest my hands on his sacred head"

Hindley wakes and Hindley says :
Hindley wakes, Hindley wakes, Hindley wakes, and says :
"Oh, wherever he has gone, I have gone"

But fresh lilaced moorland fields
Cannot hide the stolid stench of death
Fresh lilaced moorland fields
Cannot hide the stolid stench of death

Hindley wakes and says :
Hindley wakes, Hindley wakes, Hindley wakes, and says :
"Oh, whatever he has done, I have done"

But this is no easy ride
For a child cries :

"Oh, find me ... find me, nothing more
We are on a sullen misty moor
We may be dead and we may be gone
But we will be, we will be, we will be, right by your side
Until the day you die
This is no easy ride
We will haunt you when you laugh
Yes, you could say we're a team
You might sleep
You might sleep
You might sleep
BUT YOU WILL NEVER DREAM !
Oh, you might sleep
BUT YOU WILL NEVER DREAM !
You might sleep
BUT YOU WILL NEVER DREAM !"

Oh Manchester, so much to answer for
Oh Manchester, so much to answer for

Oh, find me, find me !
Find me !
I'll haunt you when you laugh
Oh, I'll haunt you when you laugh
You might sleep
BUT YOU WILL NEVER DREAM !
Oh ...
Over the moors, I'm on the moor
Oh, over the moor
Oh, the child is on the moor

Stretch Out and Wait

All the lies that you make up
What's at the back of your mind ?
Oh, your face I can see
And it's desperately kind
But what's at the back of your mind ?

Two icy-cold hands conducting the way
It's the Eskimo blood in my veins
Amid concrete and clay
And general decay
Nature must still find a way
So ignore all the codes of the day
Let your juvenile IMPULSES sway
This way and that way
This way, that way
God, how sex implores you
To let yourself lose yourself

Stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
Let your puny body, lie down, lie down
As we lie, you say
As we lie, you say
Stretch out and ...
Stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
Let your puny body lie down, lie down

As we lie, you say :
Will the world end in the night time ?
(I really don't know)
Or will the world end in the day time ?
(I really don't know)
And is there any point ever having children ?
Oh, I don't know
What I do know is we're Here and it's Now

So ... stretch out and wait
Stretch out and wait
There is no debate, no debate, no debate
How can you conciously contemplate
When there's no debate, no debate ?
Stretch out and wait

a couple of good un's, can't be arsed doing anymore, just buy everything by the smiths - you'll never regret it

that you can't pay, take the easy way,
and give in.

yeah i've written loads of better songs than morrisey and the beatles (even james blunt) but i cant be bothered posting them on here like.
could have been a footballer too.......if i'd wanted to.

i was going to post something about the most hilariously deluded, conceited, pompous individual i've ever experienced on a message board but that would be rude.

Those lyrics were tremendous, the ones on here written by Morrissey of the Smiths.
I'd been thinking of sending someone a postcard with some lyrics on, some lass I want to inspire or help get her back on her feet as she's been low. I was wondering about Smiths lyrics as I got into writing through listening to the brilliance of the Smiths lyrics. Not sure I've read any yet. Anyone got any lyrics they could suggest?
As for Chippy Fireball, well I havent read any of his lyrics cos I usually cant be arsed to click on links but I do think the man writes a lot of sense when it comes to football and usually agree with him.
Howay then, favourite lyrics?

Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
And they're young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

From the ice-age to the dole-age
There is but one concern
I have just discovered :

Some girls are bigger than others
Some girls are bigger than others
Some girl's mothers are bigger than
Other girl's mothers

Some girls are bigger than others
Some girls are bigger than others
Some girl's mothers are bigger than
Other girl's mothers

As Anthony said to Cleopatra
As he opened a crate of ale :

Oh, I say :
Some girls are bigger than others
Some girls are bigger than others
Some girl's mothers are bigger than
Other girl's mothers

Some girls are bigger than others
Some girls are bigger than others
Some girl's mothers are bigger than
Other girl's mothers

Send me the pillow ...
The one that you dream on ...
Send me the pillow ...
The one that you dream on ...
And I'll send you mine

probably not, if she is a bit on the comfy side :uhoh:
:uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:

you forgot some ....

The boy with the thorn in his side
Behind the hatred there lies
A murderous desire for love
How can they look into my eyes
And still they don't believe me ?
How can they hear me say those words
Still they don't believe me ?
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever believe me ?
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever, they ever, believe me ?
Oh ...

The boy with the thorn in his side
Behind the hatred there lies
A plundering desire for love
How can they see the Love in our eyes
And still they don't believe us ?
And after all this time
They don't want to believe us
And if they don't believe us now
Will they ever believe us ?
And when you want to Live
How do you start ?
Where do you go ?
Who do you need to know ?

..... and yes i love the tindersticks too.......

But I'll probably get glassed
By a fat man in a mask

And the first to do three
The first of the gang to wee
