Ray Kennedy - ex-European Cup winner and several League titles to his name
Dave Linighan - Championship-level defender and a couple of seasons in the top flight with Ipswich as well
Kenny Lowe - one very seriously underrated player as his career developed, very talented footballer
Phil Brown - another good footballer and now well-known as a good coach in the game
Eddie Blackburn - not a bad keeper at our level, but always given far too much to do because the team was always being overrun by opposition

Even in that shite side, five decent players.
However the others were very dire to say the least, and it's no wonder we got hammered regularly. Even a good half of a team can't compensate for the space opponents would get against the bad half.

paul staff used to get the same bus home as me after games at the vic. it was embarrassing some times when i had to pretend they had played well when we both knew they were shiit. it was a 40 minute bus journey and we had nothing else in common to talk about.

Did you give him any hints or tips on how to play????

I can't believe Talbot Avenger has never heard of Ludworth!?!
A very strange place indeed and when I'm out on training run I
make sure I sprint through Ludworth or else the natives will have my Asics from me!

Paul Staff not a full shilling by any stetch of the imagination. When I used to do a spot of bar work in The Garden House pub, this scruffy looking lad with an air of familiarity was pumping £1 coins into the bandit, then when there was no luck had a crack at pumping my barmaid colleague with class lines like, "Do you know who I am?" and "I'm a professional footballer" needless to say he didn't score.... so no change there!

He's now a porter at Dryburn hospital and lives in Brandon? Infact I think he is a Brandonian!

I'd say there was a very strong argument for citing this team:

03/03/1962

1 Joe Wilkinson
2 Ray Bilcliff
3 Ken Jones
4 Jackie Hinchliffe
5 George Lackenby
6 Tommy Burlison
7 Clive Bircham
8 Derek McLean
9 Bobby Folland (every cloud has a silver lining)
10 Johnny Edgar
11 Harry Godbold

To be fair it did only leave us 2nd bottom of the football league, not bottom. Chester proved too difficult to get below.
