do you see a common link

Budtz - signed by DW

McCunnie - signed by DW
Antwi - signed by DW
Nelson
Humphreys - originally left out for Elliott

Moore - signed by DW
Boland - signed by DW
Sweeney - Liddle is injured
Robson - Monkhouse seems to be out of favour ??

Barker - signed by DW
McKay - signed by ??

bench

Foley
Porter
Elliott - signed by DW
Gibb - signed by DW
Barratt - signed by DW

The other two DW signings are Liddle (injured last night) and Monkhouse

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying DW's signings are poor players, well not all of them,
but he obviously seems to favour them over some of the players he inherited.
Ben Clark, Mickey Barron, Ritchie Humphreys (initially) and Sweeney to some extent are examples

The majority of players DW signed are good, no question, with the exception of Elliot,Moore & the recent loan signing who have failed to shine

Turner & Cooper made some howlers, Scott Walker, Tim Spevrick (sp)

Do you really dislike DW THAT much?

as for monkhouse, i can understand wilson being peeved with him over the rochdale fiasco, and i can understand him wanting to make a point, but there is clearly a rabbit away there.

ditto liddle, who seems to have lost the will to play. has someone told him he cant go near the opposition penalty area apart from at set pieces ?

summit very strange indeed is going on.

as for the assertion that dw signings are are good no question, cant agree.

the liddle signing was a done deal before wilson had even set foot in the club.

along with elliott moore and coles feel free to add gibb ( who has barely played a game ) and antwi.

barker was a good signing last season, mcunnie looks a reasonable right back, boland has been great when fit, which hasnt been often enough, and monkhouse has vanished.

budz is a good signing the other lad is unproven.

its a complete fallacy to suggest he has been a complete and utter success in the transfer market. the truth is that he has done reasonably well with some players and signed some utter duffers.

I concur

No-one has ever suggested that, Chip, however the good far outweighs the bad as far as I'm concerned

It must be taken into account I never played at a near decent level mind!

I agree chip.
I think he needs to get his pairings right tool:
Upfront-Joel and barker, barker and moore or mackay and barker none of these play well together.
Midfield-boland and liddle are not playing well together lately.
And in defence nelson and Antwi just doesnt work.
The team just doest seem to gel, and dont seem to know what the others are doing or thinking.

I've never been his greatest fan, but I don't dislike the man,
although some of his team selections do baffle me.
I, as has been said by others, think he is using us as a
stepping stone to better things i.e short term success
gets him a job higher up the leagues, but leaves us with
a squad of highly paid, aging players.

I rate him way above Scotty, but not in Cooper class
Cooper would have been dishing out free tickets a few
times this season.

I also think that DW is in danger of turning the crowd
against him, if he doesn't settle the ship and get them
picking up points.

We haven't got a squad full of ageing players.

Humps, Elliott, who's on a one year, Boland and Barker.

Everyone else is 27 or under aren't they??

And we have a wage cap?? confised confised

So that's only one third of the team,
(4/11 ths actually)
plus Moore, who must be on a decent wedge
and doesn't seem to have increased the quality
of the squad.

Exactly. A third is hardly full and there's the hopeless Ian Moore on 6 goals when last seasons top scorer got 9. That's an improvement surely??

I think Budtz and McCunnie are really good signings, it doesn't help Budtz when Wilson is pissing about with the defence non stop. McCunnie looked really good at right back at the start of the season but Wilson got paranoid about the well placed long crossfield ball and we haven't relly recovered. Hopefully Sunday will be the start of the promotion push......

to be fair kev if you had seen the likes of elliott and moore play you probably wouldnt think they were an improvement. both of them are struggling to make the side at present and wouldnt be in it on merit.

as well as those two wilson signed antwi who has definitely weakened the defence to the point he got dropped and coles who was a waste of a loan signing.

mcunnie i think is decent, but wilson has dropped him in favour of the aforementioned coles.

the only one of the summer signings thats getting his game every week is budz and there a fair few think he is no better than provett.

A fair few being you and who.....?

Budz is MILES better then Provett, but we all get weepy eyed of Provett, cause he was a 'local lad made good'

Budtz is another Provett, a good shot stopper,
he has the same weaknesses, namely he does not
command his box or generate confidence in his defence.

Also reading the online mail, last night I read that DW
is looking for loan signings to sort out the right back
problem and the inability to convert the chances we
are creating.

Which is the deathknell for Micket Barron and must leave
Jamie McCunnie feeling great.

The striker situation, is a problem.
We haven't got anyone who can partner Barker, the best
parnership is Brown and Porter, but DW seems reluctant
to give it an extended run.
Moore is not a striker and I think either Foley or McKay
should be sent out on loan to get some regular football.
Ideally both of them, but that would leave us too short
on cover.
