Me mate is down for the weekend with his wife and bairn. On the way back up to Hartlepool on Sunday afternoon he's going to come to the game with me.

Does anyone know of anywhere interesting near Gainsborough where his wife/bairn/our lass can spend a couple of hours while we're at the game?

There is a place on the A57 on the way to Lincoln called Sundown Adventure and Pets corner. I went there a few years ago with my children. This might be helpful. Then onward to the end of the road and turn left to get to Gainsborough.

Neil, as Gainsboro is in Lincolnshire, would you say it's 'flat'?

clumber park and sherwood forest are not far away, gaisborough itself is a dump to put it nicely, if it's shopping and lunch they're after, send em off to Lincoln

Everwhere is flat in Lincolnshire didn't you know, except the A15 to Peterborough, Steep Hill in Lincoln the Lincoln wolds and many other places. Not a sensible statement on a walk to Brentford but funny after the event. Ha Ha taz taz taz taz

There is nowt in Clumber Park apart from trees, grass and boy racers. There is a big open market on Sundays but it's not that interesting. After sundown it gets more interesting when the doggers turn up. Best nearest is Retford, about eight miles away, which has at least some decent shops and cafe's and Kings Park with stuff for the kids. Bawtry is much the same as Retford, easy to wander for a couple of hours. Like Appleyap says, Sundown Pets Corner is OK too but more like 15 miles away. Doncaster is maybe closer than that. There's used to be a huge car boot at Tickhill, and another at Cadeby Corner, both pretty close but I haven't been for a couple of years.
