I'am pleased to annouce the arrival of a new poolie, (although born in newcastle)

My granddaughter, Eloise, was born on friday morning, but due to some complications, i have not said anything, (although i thank those who Knew for the concern and kind words)

After a trip to leicester glenfield hospital, by air ambulance on friday night, and return trip, on monday, she is now off all medication / ventilation, as is just beautifull!

Thanks to all staff of the RVI Newcastle, RAF augusta air ambulance, Glenfield Hospital leicester, and to who ever it was who answered our prays.

Beautiful name too.
Being a grandparent should be great fun, and easier than being a parent as well

Whereas Claude François's French cover version is absolutely execrable (like all his covers come to that). Good job he stopped doping them in 1978.

Great News Mr Ed!

And if anyone thinks Dave Vanian sings Eloise better than Barry Ryan they want their head examining..then again, Barry Ryan wouldn't sound very good attacking "New Rose" or "ProblemChild" either... rolfl

Being totally serious, Dave Vanian was actually a very very good singer when he had a decent song to sing and he was not just shouting new rose et al.

The Damned are actually the only band who have ever enticed me to go to into 'the studio'. Back in 2000 or 2001 I think it was sctatchinghead How time flies

The Damned are touring again from next month, the nearest they get to Hartlepool is Northumbria Uni. I saw them in the late 70's supported by the Mopeds. New Rose is a classic single - never thought it was very punk though.

The new album is as good as, if not better than anything they've done before. (Still not punk though  )
I've always liked their punk attitude. I see Dave Vanium annually at a car show I go to & our singer is friends with Monty Oxymoron who plays keyboards with them.

Mister Ed – sorry to hijack your thread.

I might go and see them this year. Missed them last year but saw them the four or five before that. Its worth going just for Smash it Up - one of the best live songs ever.
Plus the captain is still worth plenty of banter.
The Black Album is actually my favourite - the limited edition one which had loads of live music on the other side, probably cause I owned a tape of it aged about 15
(still prefer SLF though)

The black album is great altho I struggle to choose a favourite out of that and Machine Gun Etiquette. Wait for the blackout and Smash it up are both outstanding. Curtain Call was just the most creepy thing ever (and unfortunately it didnt 'work')

Yes.

I don't think I've had the privilege of hearing that one. Did he suddenly acquire a singing voice like? I refer you to his version of the 4 Seasons "What a Night", or "Cette année là" as his Froggy version goes.

Claude François died from electrocution while trying to change a light bulb in the bath. The French being world champions at black comedy, you can imagine the field day they had with it. They're still cracking jokes about it to this day.

Oh by the way congratulations Mr Horse!
