A spokesman said:

"The minority of road users that park on bus stops are potentially putting people at risk by making them step off the bus away from the bus stop, and into the middle of the road."

'Cos if you step out into the middle of the road when you get off, you also have to walk to the middle of the road to get on, surely??

Mr No 6, are youse lot driving either in reverse or on the wrong side of the road these days??

Don't forget folks, grass a motorist today!!!!!!!

Repulsive.

not sure how they work that out
"The minority of road users that park on bus stops are potentially putting people at risk by making them step off the bus away from the bus stop, and into the middle of the road."

unless they are thinking of the people who get off the bus and then immediately walk in front of the bus and go to cross straight over the road in that instance it would not make a jot of difference they would still do it.

the gripe i have about people parking on bus stops is that now we have the low floor buses that carry wheelchairs and buggies and need to park on the kerbside to allow them to wheel straight off we often cant get near the kerbs.

mind after seeing that footage the other day the buggers would be trying to get their motorbikes on the bus if it catches on over here

Can you still take your push bike on the bus? What about dogs, are they allowed on?

chip a serious question
on the buses there is an advert/poster wanting peoples views on the bus service and offering a free bus pass to participants this should be in the area just behind the drivers cab.
next time you are on the bus make sure you have a pen and a bit of paper to write the number down.
have you considered taking part

Mr Bus,

I've got a nephew who is considering applying for a job in Nottingham driving buses. Apparently they put you through a PSV test at their own cost.

Is this typical or is there something to watch out for?

no if it operates the same as up here what happens is for the first 80 weeks or so you are employed they deduct a training fee out of your wages of 10/12 £ a week then after stopping for the 80 weeks you get a nice lumper
leave before your 80 weeks and you dont even get your B.F.H. (think bullseye)

so if he is planning on staying then its a nice little saving scheme.

the biggest problem is once he is passed his test then he is placed into the hands of somebody like me to get him ready to actually drive the bus with passengers on now thats when the hard work begins.
but a good job if you have the right attitude.

The bus stop for the low floor buses are a bit of a baffler, as those nasty little Dennis Darts only form a fraction of the fleet, a B10 defeats the object... wait for the bus and that turns up with a wheelchair or pushchair and you're waiting for the next bus or the bus after.....don't worry though, the lads on Tyneside will 'cascade' you down some of their old stuff.

It'd be cheaper to raise the road! ....seriously though, how many people in wheelchairs board the bus, I've seen one in 5 years.

Most wheel chairs are powered now, aren't they? You could harness the wheel chair and its user to the front of the bus and then they could pull it along, thus saving on fuel consumption.

you would be surprised there are several regular wheelchair users including a young pools supporting lady from clavering.
mind some of the motorised wheelchairs are not allowed on after one went flat and the bus had to go to the depot for the depot staff to charge the battery up so it could be moved
it is all to do with the goverments disability acts which give wheelchair users the right to public transport even if they choose not to use it.
