It was Bullock's all-action display that spurred Bury on to leap eight places in the League Two table.

Bullock's perfectly-weighted through-ball for Andy Mangan two minutes in allowed the Liverpudlian striker to slide the ball past James Spencer.

Just 10 minutes later, it was Bullock's blockbusting tackle on John Doolan on the edge of Rochdale's box that gave Nicky Adams an opportunity to lash the ball home via a Kelvin Lomax deflection.

Bury had been crying out for someone of Bullock's presence in midfield since Dwayne Mattis left the club in January - and, ironically, his arrival at the club came as a result of a failed bid to bring Mattis back to Gigg Lane from Barnsley.

No matter what the circumstances of his arrival, Bury were glad to have him after spending the rest of the game with their backs firmly to the wall.

Let's just hope they can afford to take him, permanently, in January.

We'll swap him for a centre half - we collect them.

Well the last centre half we got from Bury is a canny player.

That's true - and they say you should always start with your strongest 11 - shame they're all centre halves.
