Last nights performance was in short, a bit below average.

However, unlike some I still feel we were very good value for a point. We had the majority of the possession (62% in fact), but despite this we failed to make some forward passes and passed from side to side. We didn’t make enough runs to cross the ball. This made it difficult for the strikers to get in the game.

There was no movement from the midfield, no energy, pace or spark. When Porter and Robson came on they gave us this and we were more direct. That’s why we started making things happen. Wilson was spot on with his subs.

Set pieces were another concern, we didn’t take advantage of all those corners we had. We over complicated them.

We were afraid to shoot and we were far too clingy. We would have been a hell of a lot better if we turned and shot. Barker needs to turn more instead of laying it off all the time.

There’s a major imbalance with the defence. The defence doesn’t look a unit and they do not trust their keeper.

But despite all that, we had enough possession to get something out of the game. 62% of the possession is quite a lot. We had 16 shots to their 7 and 12 corners to their 1. So in terms of attacking…we did more of it. It’s just they looked more dangerous when they did attack.

All in all, encouraging and not the end of the world. A late goal will give the lads confidence. All the above corners can be sorted out. Most of them weren’t an issue at the Leyton game and they can be solved...

Final note: Mike Pike is a damp squid and spoilt the game as previosly mentioned. He was far too inconsistent.
