Grayson

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Far too much negativity from certain members on this site. We have only played seven games. The manager has done remarkably well in his recruitment in that he has brought in players with pace, drive and commitment . I personally thought we would be in the bottom 4 , 3 months ago. Last few seasons many including me complained about the lack of pace in midfield and a defence which couldn’t keep a clean sheet . Yes we had good goal scorers in Mani and to a lesser extent Gray but the side was boring to watch. This side is exciting and play with their hearts . All managers impose their style on how they think footballers should play . Grayson likes his players to be young, fast , creative and dynamic with experience at league level. Now that the EFL transfer window is over he can recruit . Yes we should have kept Mani and I believe he would have stayed . He didn’t because of internal politics and we have moved on. Grayson comes across as a plain speaker but the guy is very switched on. Forest Green will be tough but it’s far too early to predict where we will be at the end of the season. Expect some new signings and loanees to give us more depth . Regards the last 2 games . Yes disappointing , but last night we played the opposition of the pitch and hit the bar twice . And in the previous game had a player sent of after 55 mins and defended like trojans . More positivity guys and look at the glass as half full , rather than half empty . To early to write of this team and manager . Last year I couldn’t wait for the season to finish and was bored shitless. Last night I got up at 1.45am in the morning and was entertained . So try to be realistic after 7 games and look at the positives and what Grayson is trying to achieve. As regards Raj . What’s done is done. He is still in charge and need to back the guy.

100% agree with this as an exile I paid to watched on tv (No Tees coverage again ) and this is so much better than previous seasons with better players, we have all watched the National Team play teams with 11 men behind the ball and struggle to break through so lets all be realistic this will happen a lot this season and I have faith that SG will address it

We were very unlucky not to win.

Boston will still be working out how lucky they were to leave the Vic with 1 point.

As for different opinions freedom of speech should always be allowed.

No one is arguing about free speech . Those stating mid table mediocrity after 7 games need their heads examined . Compared to last year it’s like watching Arsenal . Hard to beat, neat passing in midfield and both wings and a never say die attitude not to lose the game. Where I am in agreement we need more quality upfront and I’m sure Grayson is also working on it. Thought that Charman was playing with more confidence yesterday taking players on. What he lacks sometimes is more precise passing . Johnson also played well on his 20 mins or so on the pitch . Further , I also spotted that the players he has purchased seem to possess an inner self confidence which is pleasing to see . Parkes also back to his best leading by example . Not that he was ever shit . Looking forward to Saturdays game which if we don’t already know it tell us exactly where we are .

the annoying thing is that grayson would most likely agree with that but unlike other clubs his hands might be tied. his main problem is getting players in better than the ones he has which will cost the club more than one sat rock bottom where any new signing would be likely to improve things. nobody is asking raj to break our transfer record but just to help what is a decent squad for once.

I think Grayson has done a great job so far--set us up well, solid defensively, made some excellent decisions etc...
But he's a manager not a magician--unless he gets some reinforcements he cant fight gravity.

I think a lot of this is down to expectations---we are a traditional league club so should be demanding we get back there-yes we dont have a right to etc but thats what we should aim for.

If we dont bring anyone else in then we will slide down the table vs where we are now IMO....and we have seen when that happens typically managers dont last too long at this club.

Grayson said in one of his post match interviews he has backing to buy more players and loanees . He said he was waiting for the EFL window to close . We know he likes young , fast experienced league players and there will be a few around who couldn’t get a league contract but fancy a go with us. Don’t forget we are highly regarded in the national league and Grayson has a pedigree . Just be patient and enjoy the moment

Interesting just watched Savage interview with FGR--he seems to have grown up from how he was as a player--but they are talking about getting more in as well.
