And make as many changes as possible playing the reserves and kids?

Am sure we won’t but given how thin the squad is, the turnaround time and travel and the fact their is a decent chance we lose anyway it may be a plan

Losing to Southend won’t derail our season but a medium/long term injury to the likes of Reid, Miley, Topalji or Sheron might …

What a ridiculous suggestion, why would you even think of it? We're playing well and confidence is high, they've got a longer journey to Truro on Saturday than we've got Monday and haven't they got a game against York tonight?

Are you Auld Len in disguise? sctatchinghead

In answer to your question absolutely NOT.

Purely from a selfish point of view, my missus and outlaws will be unbearable if we lose to SARFend. Going by last night's performance against a half decent team away from home- let SARFend worry about us.

That said, I'd take a point now if offered it (providing we win Saturday)!

We will lose 3-2, we will be 2-0 up after 10 mins after playing superbly and dominating the game, then something bad will happen at around 20-25 min, and we will spend the rest of the game trying to hold on, but will ultimately concede a 3rd in the 90th minute to lose the match.

It’s the Bank Holiday Monday way.

If you said that to the players, never mind the manager, you would get a right mouthful - and rightly so. Our motto is Never Say Die rather than Let’s Not Bother…

I know in reality we won’t do it…but as flagged the last 2 bank holiday Monday games have likely scarred me.

In reality I would rather lose to Southend than have one of those players I listed out for 2 months.

I hope Grayson heavily rotates to reflect that…I would be happy with the likes of Hunter, Charman walker and Folarin all starting if that protected our less replaceable players it would help if our bench was stronger like

Hopefully go all out and beat Woking which then gives us some breathing room

I think if we manage to continue our good run in the first half v Woking, (and they continue their run of form), and we end up a couple of goals up at half time, then we could see a few early subs to give people a bit of a rest.

The odds to replicate the last 2 August BHswill will be very high.

But a few arses will be nipping if we go 2 0 up.

what rest. a few extra minutes before they jump on a coach the next day. we could be gateshead and having to travel even further to yeovil. its not about playing the subs at southend its the rediculous bank holiday monday fixtures that need scrapping if they cannot be arsed to give teams more local games. the situation reminds me of that film they shoot horses don,t they. one of grayson first words in his interview after our win was about players rest. seems th league have no interest in that.

This is the fixture which will give an indication of the season ahead.
If Pools get a result of any sort, a playoff position would be a reasonable expectation imho.
Before SG's appointment I feared that relegation was on the cards but he has assembled a small squad of decent players that needs a couple more to cover for the inevitable injuries and suspensions. Having a good keeper makes a difference!

If someone is not 100% they should miss this game or be subs. We are wafer thin.

I can see at least 4 subs used on Saturday.

As a matter of interest I watched the Southend v York game last night and their commentators were talking about their team being Leggy.
The game itself was good but with very few clear chances, apart from both sides hitting the bar. I thought York edged it and looked the more likely to nick it but only just.
The draw was a fair result overall. They both knocked it about a bit with very little penetration.
That result suited us and, on that showing we can give Southend a game. I think Saturday's trip to Yeovil will take more out of Southend than our home game with Woking. Here's hoping.

Southend aren't playing Yeovil on Saturday, they've got an even longer trip to Truro. I think that it's their second longest trip (after Carlisle)

therefore it would be a big shock if both pools and them are able to play their strongest 11 on the monday after. fans of both clubs are being shortchanged because of this with one team suffering more than the other. best outcome would be a flash flood there with the game postponed.

Evening all, Our journey to Truro was, indeed, a long old haul, but the squad flew down From Southend Airport on Friday and will fly back, probably tomorrow. With that, we're hopeful that the players won't be too knackered ready for you lot on Monday. We rotated quite a few players this afternoon so we will see how we fare against you. We're expecting a gate of around 8k, so it should be nice and lively.

By the way, I'm in full agreement with the original poster in this thread. Safe journey Monday.

Do what we do and come away with a clean sheet 0-0 would be a result

Its a free hit game now.
Got to concede sometime.

Bouncebackability comes into play now this season.

Might need a cup run to bring a quality January loanie in.

Watched Maher's post match interview and he said "God knows what time in the morning we'll get back". Doesn't sound like any flying involved. I smell bullshit.
