Only 17 runs on his debut today. Hope he can add a few more in the proper matches. It's great to see the number of north east lads who are getting chances in the england team at the moment

It was the first job I ever did for them, Chester-Le-Street was just a field, no stands, adverts, nowt. I got some good freebies early on up there and met David Graveney, Wayne Larkins etc. Those early days of Durham as a First Class county were great, like giants, walking the earth, with cricket bats! It'll not happen again.

I remember Durham playing at Park Drive a few times in their first couple of seasons as a First Class County. I was playing for the u18s there at the time and we got to be stewards but we just left the stewarding to the younger kids and got legless after getting in for nowt!

I think I did one stewarding job, I managed to get the prize gig of taking lunch up to the pavillion for Ian Botham, Graham Gooch and Neil Foster cos they didn't want the chew of walking down to the tent behind the bar. Lamb vindaloo was Botham's scran!
