I will comment on this as well. There is NO more of a Pooly than Ducker anywhere, alive or dead. The lad is a die-hard if ever there was one, 30 odd years man and boy a Pools fan. The arse-holes who stitched him up with this civil action know nothing about him, or football. They had no right to do this to him, and justice has prevailed. Unfortunately he can't get those days at Pools back that he's missed, I hope he sues the fu-ckers for thousands.

No idea about this one, my first thought was to fill the page with abuse because I thought were were referring to that arsehole who stuck his face in their goalie's mush and almost got us points deducted.

Mr.I I am really not surprised you don't know anything about this one, as when the subject of the ban was first brought up on this board you basically called me a liar.

You also said you didn't believe the account of what he was getting done for which now seems to be the truth.

Oh a major crime then, how pathetic to ban a true fan when much worse things get said and done at almost every league match in the country.

Justice has been done in the end.

why do these things always go to appeal to? Why don't they just get the fucking decision the first time and stop wasting everyones time.

The FA are the worst for it, giving someone a 4 match ban then reduced to 2 after appeal. Why not just give 2 in the first fking place?!

If that is the sum total of his crime then it was indeed draconian. Incidentally I wasn't calling you personally a liar I was saying that I don't believe that someone could get arrested for something so petty. In short I was questioning whether you had the full story or not.

Leave off Mr I FFS. I doubt many people could believe that someone would be subject to such a penalty on the basis of something so trivial.

If by trivial you mean the singing to the loids across the street then I agree it is ridiculous and that was the basis on which I was questioning whether there was more to it - I found it difficult to believe anyone would get banged up for such a nothing offence. If the fact was that he was sticking V's to the coppers in the Town end then I could understand him getting lifted.

If he has indeed been proved innocent of any wrongdoing then questions need to be asked of the arresting Police.

I can tell you of a pending court case where the defendants are the Police, who were found to have lied through their teeth in a previous court case after arresting a man under false pretences and subsequently beating him up. That case led to the current trial where the man is sueing them. An independent forensics expert has made a damning statement against them in the court, which they have still tried to deny is the truth!!! Who do these people sometimes think they are? They have a difficult job, I certainly wouldn't do it, but the things they can get away with because they are dealing with football fans is quite frankly outrageous. Ducker's case is another example of this. They should concentrate on getting people who have actually done something!!!!!

Good to hear that "justice has been done" . Mind, you have to ask who made the decisions and what motivated them to do so in bringing the prosecution in the first place - but whoever did it is presumably unaccountable. It's coming to something when the police can use taxpayers' money to take civil actions against football fans which are subsequently overturned......

I presume that the lad could attend games while the appeal was going on which seems only right given the final outcome.

Is it only me who finds this whole issue sinister?

What I find sinister is that the police can have somebody banned without ever being convicted of a crime.

Thats actually an excellent point in law. If he was specifically 'banned' rather than 'suspended pending trial' then there is a case to answer. It would be interesting to find out whether he was banned by the club or Police. Come to think of it, anyone awaiting trial can be remanded in custody for anything up to a year without the right to compensation.

I thought everyone knew Ducker!!! Anyway enough on here do, and the messages of support are fully justified for all of you doubting Thomases. If you knew him, you'd be as outraged at this as we all were. The bobbies have now gone into previously unchartered territory - targetting the normal fan. This is a VERY worrying development, and if it goes unchecked then a lot of evryday blokes will be getting banned for nothing.
They've banned the hooligans, so in theory they will have to desist from attending matches in large numbers in future. Bad news for them, so to combat this they will now need to select a new target - the fan who shouts at the ref or lino, or opposing players. I don't like this at all.

I was one of the doubters but for the following reasons.

I don't know the lad, yes I've seen him at lots of games and recognised him immediately, not easy seeing as he looked sober when that picture was taken

I found it difficult to accept that the Police would arrest someone for doing nothing. We've all heard various takes of woe before and it usually turns out that there's more to the case than meets the eye. For example I was once on leave and our kid was arrested, he was adamant that he was just walking down the street minding his own business when he was collared. It turned out that he had tried to pull a copper off his horse!

This particular arrest and prosecution is very worrying in that he genuinely seems to have been doing very little. Shouting 'you sad bastards' across the street could be construed as threatening words but any sensible copper would let people go on their way rather than inflaming the situation.

To then go out of their way to find him for such a negligible offence seems to me to be ridiculous and concerning esecially given the levels of more serious crime in the town.

I'm afraid that's the top and bottom of this one. The more feathers in their caps for football-related offences, the more chance they have of keeping their pantomime operational. I'll bet there's police horses, riot vans, the works this afternoon. There will not be a hint of trouble anywhere, I know this, you all know this, THEY know this, but they are going to bring out the full cavalry anyway. They are arse-holes when it comes to football fans, and they can get away with it because there doesn't exist any bill of rights for footy fans, or a politically-motivated group to protect the interests of footy fans.

Now there's a thought.............

saw ducker there yesterday and he was quite restrained but there again there were another 4900 subdued people in there as well
