Sloggett

Renamed in memory of John Hawksworth, a stalwart member who passed this day 2nd August 2020. RIP Mr Monkeybutt.

Sadly we must add the name of Kevin Minton, Aka Mr Ripper who passed 30/6/22. Kev was also Mr politically incorrect but a nicer lad you could never meet.

Always seemed a v intelligent bloke when he spoke, but just didn’t look
Good enough
Interesting he has signed for Boston who a few people think may be dark horses this year

Is it proof Boston will be fairly shite again or could Sloggett be the next Fondup Tallom who thrives at a different club?

And if he comes good at Boston…?
It’s what he does….. he’s a terrier.

I,m expecting Boston to do really well, Possibly POs, 3 managers last season and none knew Pools identity.

Top teams in NL next year: Carlisle, York, Rochdale, Forest Green. Boston will be above half way, a couple of places above above Pools. I reckon they are a well run and well managed club but dont have the money to compete with the likes of York etc.

Southend will be challenging again too. Very competitive for that single guaranteed promotion spot.

I did consider them but so often beaten play off finalists go through the doldrums the following season. For example, Solihull beaten by Bromley finished mid table last season and Torquay got relegated after we beat them. Of course there are exception so Southend might challenge for the plays off again but I have my doubts.

if i remember correctly there were many who could not wait for his inclusion in the side after a decent pre seaon game before he got injured. bad luck or what but somehow he never came out with the ball in a tackle he made.

I thought sloggett looked decent in flashes, but the game on new year's day when he came on as sub against Oldham....Jesus, he was awful. Didn't look like he'd kicked a ball in his life.
