: I don't think the Bunker has a proper fan.

But if we do any score updates tonight will be appreciated.

Cheers

It's 0 0

Went tonight. We are awful, nothing whatsoever upfront or ideas wise. Best player on the pitch was the keeper we let go. It's going to be one hell of a long season. I thought we were bad at Scarborough last season this team is not in the same league as that one.

You are normally fairly accurate with your assessments sadly

Seems like Grayson is getting in a lot of physical defenders…is the plan just to be solid and grind out results attritionally ?

I will be amazed if we are in this league the following season i honestly can't believe I've just witnessed such a dreadful pools side friendly or no friendly

Maybe the full pre season weak opposition is to represent the weak team we have and are going to get.

See what October brings now not November.

Walker always reminded me of someone who played like his legs we enclosed in metal drainpipe's and incapable of bending at the knee

Like a cart horse I'm afraid. Couple of lads at the back look big units and seemed quite mobile. Possibly the only positive I could take.

Never seen the Redcar goalie play and after watching 90 minutes even I could see that lad has huge potential. Some of the rubbish we have had in goal over the last few years and we have let this lad go is criminal. I'm sure he will get picked up by a bigger club before long.

Apparently Redcar City's two first choice centre backs were both missing last night. Grayson was impressed with Pools performance though so I suppose that is all that matters at this 'early stage' of the close season.

At this stage it is all about trialling players, experimenting with formations and building sharpness. Not going to be an exhibition of flowing attacking football. Almost two seperate teams playing in each half so unrealistic to expect the players to show top class passing and movement when they are just getting used to being on the same pitch with each other.

I'm not expecting an 'exhibition of flowing attacking football' at all this season let alone in these trial games. The quality of the opposition appears to have been chosen up to enable Grayson to view his new charges (plus associated trialists) and allow match fitness to be gradually secured. These minor clubs will not be looking to put one over on Pools as an NLN outfit would, possibly the reason for the Shields game featuring last in the pre season build up. The Rangers kids will presumably be quicker and of a decent standard so that would represent an opportunity to turn out something like a first XI

No doubt a section of York City's support are going their ends because they got beat 6-2 at home by a Sheffield United side. Win or lose, a certain type of fan will always get the crystal ball out after what are basically glorified practice matches.

Pre season literally means nothing. We drew with a Sunderland first team under Paul Hartley and lost to Gateshead under Challinor.
Last night's performance and result doesn't matter, what matters is how we play against Yeovil. We battered South Shields last season under Sarll while playing some excellent football, we soon settled into long ball dross after that. Let's see how we're doing in the actual games before writing the season off. (No I'm not a happy clapper or expecting promotion, I think we're more likely to be mid table again)

This is a distraction, the players are a side show, an irrelevance ….because basically we’re still not sure what the future is.
