Grimsby Town have signed defender Reece Staunton on a two-year contract from Spennymoor Town.

Staunton moves to Blundell Park on a free transfer from the National League North club.

The 24-year-old played in the EFL for Bradford City after coming through their academy, before dropping down into non-league.

"I'm buzzing to be here and it's something I've dreamt of for the last three years, coming back to the EFL," Staunton told the club's website.

Totally agree, I think he's been fantastic for us, but we move on.
The interview at the end of the season, he said he would love to be here for another season. So I'm figuring Grayson has other ideas. It's a shame, he seems a genuine bloke, but I guess things move on.

Maybe Grey n Manny need to speed up there options.

Fergy obviously ain't promotion material so a blessing in disguise for sure.

Already thinking Grayson will be better than Skippy.

But things need to speed up sharpish on the recruitment front.

It's that crazy time of year when optimism ranges from 1% to 66%ish

The only shit players here are under contract and all the crocks are gone.

See where we are in 7 weeks.

as each season has gone he,s been less effective but somehow those who sit around me love him.

Did Ferguson play for Grayson at Blackpool if so could be bad feeling between the two of them. Definitely not the player he was and if offered anew deal towards end of season should of snapped it up.

Ferguson was at Blackpool between Jan 2015 and July 2016

Grayson was manger there 2005-2008 and 2019-2020, so it looks like their paths didn't cross

MB mentioned Heed had continuous pay cuts.
But I'd reckon they are performance related so he's done okish out of Pools.

A bit crazy to be only 1 division in front of Spennymoor nowadays.
Was always a daft friendly game but could be a div 5 or 6 fixture in 26/27.

Anyhow it's good luck from me as usual to all our North East non league teams.

The fact that nothing happened last week and probably next week is proof that the budget is the usual. You need a shit load of luck and your tactics are better than the previous incumbents.

As long as our budget is on a par with the mighty morecambe then that will do. Everyone knows by the standard of the players we look at or bring in that our budget is piss poor, shows when the likes of spenny and south shields can look or even think about bringing them in from our club, that theirs probably not much difference from a conference north budget and ours.

Once again looks like we're heading into pre season with about 10 players and about 6 of them aren't anywhere near up to it.
