The Tale of the old Car…for children……by Patience Wilted

Reg bought a car, he had it a few years, but the longer he had it the less money he spent on it….it had been around the block and become a burden, but it served it’s purpose …..so Reg decided to hang on to it, spend only what he had to and keep it ticking over.
One day two men approached Reg and said fancy selling that car Reg, we think we can restore that…it’ll cost a bit, but worth it to see the old girl restored and running as it should…they agreed a price but Reg had second thoughts and upped the price again and again and again till they gave up and bought a similar model in Wales…….every time someone made an offer the same thing happened..but the car was getting worse and worse and just scraping through it’s MOT every year but it did it’s job at the chicken farm he owned…then one day, it collapsed, the untreated rust finally struck and it was no more…………..
The moral of the story children, is that if you have no use for your old toys anymore given them to someone who will appreciate them.

I feel that Snowy's fable may be alluding to creative accounting rather than writing.

Not Reg’s style, a classic automobile enthusiast and a tight git…on his chicken farm.

Reg believes vehicle tax is an affront as his car spends most of it’s time on the farm and according to his tax adviser, Lawyer Uriah Heep Jr, he’s protected by the law of 1649 the…’Ye Oxen on ye Land Act’ which covers his car…..and only pays the original penalty of three turnips a year to the taxman.
The MOT is less complicated, he applies the same law so it only requires a new set of shoes for the beast of burden sanctioned by the Blacksmith.. Mr Hubert Inbred.
Hope that clears things up.
